I am not sure the spoon that John is using is big enough…

Our Anniversary getaway came to an end today as we rode home. It was a great time spent with my husband, and I am so thankful we took the time away together.

We spent the day exploring Boonville. There is a lot of history in this little town with over 400 buildings on the historic register.

We also took a short, recovery bike ride on the Katy Trail. Like the day before, the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Despite being sore and having extremely tired legs, it was fun seeing more of the Katy Trail.

After enjoying happy hour and dinner, we wrapped up the evening with a fantastic bottle of champagne. Happy Anniversary to us!

It was a biking adventure for our 26th wedding anniversary. Andy has always wanted to ride somewhere for our anniversary, so we took the opportunity this year. We settled on Boonville, which is about 34 miles from our house via the MKT and Katy Trail. I admit that I was very nervous about this given my bike accident just over a month ago, but I was not going to let that stop us from this experience. We headed out of Columbia about 11 am.

We had gorgeous weather, making it a perfect day for a ride on the trail. We stopped at Meriwether Cafe for lunch and enjoyed a glass of wine and delicious salads.

After lunch, we rode the rest of the way to Boonville. We arrived at the Hotel Frederick about 4 pm. The hotel is unique and it was so fun!

We even got Room 26 for our 26th anniversary.

After getting unpacked and cleaned up, we spent the evening enjoying time with each other. It was a great beginning to our trip.
Happy Halloween! Halloween looks a lot different when you have teenagers…

However, I am so glad that the Things have great friends to spend it with!

Of course, Andy and I got home too late to take a picture with all the teens.
John’s Affirmation of Baptism was today.

Despite being super nervous to participate in the confirmation service, John did a great job. He stumbled a bit when reading his faith statement, but he was honest and funny all at the same time.

To John, I know you never intended for anyone except for Pastor David to read your faith statement but being pushed outside your comfort zone is a positive in life. Your Dad and I are extremely proud of you! Congratulations, J! We love you to the moon and back!
