Today was one of “those” days. The ones where a lot gets done, but it feels like nothing much happened. I did the typical Sunday things like cleaning and laundry. I threw in some baking (Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars), relaxation, and fun time with the kids for good measure. 🙂
Movies!
The highlight of today? Taking the kids to the movies for the first time! So fun! Our neighbor suggested that all of us go to the Forum 8 Theatres for their Spring Free Movie Weekends. Today’s movie was “How to Train Your Dragon.” Laura and John have seen the movie, but it was a perfect opportunity to take them. 🙂 So, off we went!
Laura anticipating the start of the movie.
John enjoying the big bucket of popcorn (I had to buy Laura her *own* popcorn because John wouldn’t let go of the bucket and I didn’t feel like dealing with the screaming.)
Both kids really enjoyed the movie even though John got a bit bored. I think on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best, this was a 10! Yes, we’ll be going again. 🙂 Thanks Jenna for the suggestion!
Outside!
We actually got to go outside today! The weather was beautiful and it was really nice to just be out in the fresh air. 🙂 We got out the tricycle and sidewalk chalk. The kids raced up and down the driveway and just had a great time. We were sad to come back inside, but John still needs his nap!
John’s legs are finally long enough to peddle the tricycle!
While checking out our various plantings, I discovered signs of spring! Is that really GREEN?!?
Today’s Events
The kids are home for a couple of days while their daycare is closed. The list of today’s events are as follows.
I made a doctor appointment for me for Monday morning at 8:00 am. I think I’m having gallbladder problems. I don’t know this for sure, but something is definitely wrong. I’ll know more on Monday.
While John was napping today, Laura played some Wii Bowling and has a new personal best of 160!
Next on the agenda: Popcorn for our afternoon snack and watching Toy Story 3!
Then, Laura decided to practice fishing with her new Barbie fishing pole.
After fishing practice, Laura wanted to help me make dinner.
The kids are finishing up in the tub now and then bedtime. I hope to finish the day relaxing in front of the television or reading. I’m worn out from whatever health issue I’m having and need some rest.
Sometimes you just have to….
Eye Doctor
This is the first picture we have of Laura with her eyes open.
Today, Andy and I took Laura and those beautiful eyes to Advanced Vision to have her first eye examination for Kindergarten registration next week. Her vision and eyes are perfect. While it most likely won’t stay that way forever, she doesn’t have to go back for two years. She was such a brave girl and Dr. Jalali was absolutely fantastic with her. Andy and I were very proud of her! To go with her *first* eye examination, we took her for her *first* trip to Baskin Robbins afterward where she tasted four different ice creams and then ate plain, old chocolate. Some things just don’t change. 🙂
Laura-isms
I’m beginning to refer to the observations that Laura makes as “Laura-isms.” This morning produced another such statement from her. In a perfectly straight face and just as serious as could be, she said, “You are fun and I love you Mommy, but you simply aren’t as cute as me.” I had to leave the room because I was about to start laughing and she was so serious. Love that girl!
