After a crazy fun night of play with Kathryn and Laura, John was a little tired today. I noticed right about 2:00 pm that it had gotten very quiet in the family room. This is why….
Sleepover!
Kathryn is here for a sleepover tonight. Within 30 minutes of her arrival, the kids’ room looked like this…..
It’s all good though! After the kids played, played, and played, we all had spaghetti for dinner followed by ice cream for them. Then they played, played, and played again. After playing, it was bath time followed by a movie.
During the movie, they played, played, and played….and fell asleep.
Shelving
I gave up and bought some shelving for the kids’ room. I also told Laura that one of the goals for this weekend is to go through their toys and stuffed animals to select some things for donation. After receiving a lot of very nice new toys for their birthday, it’s time to purge again!
Laura immediately started thinking about what toys would stay and what toys would go. She very much likes to donate toys because it makes her feel good that other kids who don’t have as much as her and John, get to enjoy their old toys. By Saturday, I’m sure the list she started tonight will be shorter, but it’s the thought that counts. I’m so proud of her!
Balfour Leadership Training Workshop
Andy left today for 5 days at the University of North Carolina for Balfour Leadership Training Workshop for Sigma Chi Fraternity. As with the past few years, he will be working with the Expansion groups (meaning those colonies that are wanting to become full chapters). It’s something he truly enjoys. The travel is a hassle, but the rest of the week is a great time for him. Have fun Andy! We will miss you and look forward to you getting home!
Getting Dressed
Why a picture of dirty clothes on the floor and a wet Pull-up on the dresser? Because, this morning, the kids got dressed completely on their own! Laura helped John pick out his clothes, but they did it without me. John even put on a fresh, new Pull-up. I had to adjust his Pull-up a bit, but he still did it himself. They were both so proud of themselves and I was very excited. Little bits of freedom…
Boone County Fair
Andy took Laura to the Boone County Fair today. John stayed home with me because he was very tired and needed to go to bed. While standing in line for ride tickets, a woman asked if Andy wanted the rest of her family’s tickets as they were leaving for the evening. How neat is that? So, Andy took the tickets and Laura got to ride her first ride ever – the boat swing. She LOVED it and was giggling and all smiles. Andy also paid $5 for her to play a fishing game until she won. Her prize was a stuffed orange and yellow frog. She is very proud and couldn’t wait to show me when they got home.:)
