Why a picture of dirty clothes on the floor and a wet Pull-up on the dresser? Because, this morning, the kids got dressed completely on their own! Laura helped John pick out his clothes, but they did it without me. John even put on a fresh, new Pull-up. I had to adjust his Pull-up a bit, but he still did it himself. They were both so proud of themselves and I was very excited. Little bits of freedom…
Andy took Laura to the Boone County Fair today. John stayed home with me because he was very tired and needed to go to bed. While standing in line for ride tickets, a woman asked if Andy wanted the rest of her family’s tickets as they were leaving for the evening. How neat is that? So, Andy took the tickets and Laura got to ride her first ride ever – the boat swing. She LOVED it and was giggling and all smiles. Andy also paid $5 for her to play a fishing game until she won. Her prize was a stuffed orange and yellow frog. She is very proud and couldn’t wait to show me when they got home.:)
Fast! It’s hard to believe that less than a month ago, the Butternut squash and cucumbers were JUST coming up. We are very much looking forward to, not only, squash and cucumbers, but also three different types (Beef, Roma, and Cherry) of fresh tomatoes.

Andy is 41 today! This year was decidedly more low key than last year. The family went to Little Mate’s Cove for some fun in the sun followed by dinner with Jeremy. Nothing fancy, but relaxed and fun. Happy Birthday to our wonderful husband and Daddy! We love you!
I get to daycare to pick up the kids today. Both are still asleep from a long, exhausting day at the sprayground and swim lessons. Laura’s eyes open as I walk up to her cot. She sees me and pulls her blanket over her head. I hear her say, “Maybe if I put my blanket over my head, Mommy won’t be there.”
Grandpa Ken and Grandma Marilyn got Laura a camera for her birthday. She is very excited because she truly LOVES taking pictures with our camera. The camera is just a small, pink camera that cost about $25. It doesn’t take the best pictures and it has no flash, but it fits her hands well and it works! It also does have a little screen so she can see what she’s snapping a picture of. She learning to hold the camera still and aim. She’s learning to line up what she wants to take a picture of and she’s also learning to keep her fingers out of the line of sight. So far, she’s very much enjoying it. If she still loves it in a few months, maybe Santa can bring her a bit better camera.

Laura had to get her five-year immunizations today. Four were required, so that meant three shots as two of those are combined. We also decided to do the Hepatitis A vaccine, which is not required at the moment but is most likely coming. Laura did cry, but she was a trooper. They even gave her four stickers instead of the normal two.
