Well, John woke up in the middle of the night with a fever AGAIN. Since he finished a course of antibiotics for strep throat yesterday, I’m guessing it’s viral and it’s a wait and see. Both Laura and I had something similar last week. Coughing, snotty nose, and feverish. Hopefully he’ll be doing better tomorrow. I’m really tired of sick Kassels. I’m ready for a period of well Kassels!
Kids’ Workshop at Home Depot
On the first Saturday of every month, we try to make it to The Home Depot for Kids’ Workshop. It’s a building project that kids can make. We’ve been taking Laura for about two years now and recently started taking John. This morning was a special project because not only did they get to build a heart shelf, but they also got to paint them! Well, Laura did anyway, because John attempting to paint his shelf would have been a disaster! She chose the dark pink color. On a side note, I used to *hate* pink. Now, I kind of rather like it…..
Laura is so proud of her finished project!
Upon completion of his shelf, John had to pound with the hammer a bit more….everything *must* be secure!
Nice to get out….
It was nice to go back to work today and get out of the house. I think I had some cabin fever! 🙂
Last Snow Day?
Well, the plan is to return to work tomorrow. The news is reporting that residential areas are being plowed and the roads are being cleared. The kids are getting restless and need some friend time. Andy and I are getting cabin fever too! We did go outside for a little bit this morning so that Andy could fill up the bird feeders and the kids could play a bit. This morning, John discovered eating snow…. I guess the two kids really are siblings.
Let the “shovel out” commence!
The snow finally came to an end overnight and we woke up this morning to bright sun. It’s pretty cold out (somewhere around 10 degrees), but Andy still has to get our driveway shoveled. He’s working in shifts on it. The first half is done and he’s out on the second half now. Now for some pictures…..
Laura enjoys (eats) the snow…
John cheeses for me in front of the snow that is up to his waist

The Snow Has Begun!
The snow has begun and they are predicting 12-20 plus inches now. I took a picture at 7 am when it was just starting and am hoping to take a picture every hour throughout the day. I’ll post some as the day goes on!
Our front yard at 7 am at the very beginning of the storm
Our front yard at noon
Our backyard at 6 pm (I can’t open the front door anymore because the snow is piled too high.)
What do you do during a Blizzard? Well, get out the pull-out couch, cuddle up under piles of blankets, and watch Toy Story 2 in your very own “movie theater!”
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly….
The Good…..a new 32-inch flatscreen television for our bedroom! My parents’ house was hit by lightning over the summer. The TV in their bedroom would no longer turn on. Dad didn’t want to wait for the TV to be fixed, so he bought a new one with the insurance settlement. The old TV was still under warranty through Sam’s Club. Dad went ahead and returned it to have it fixed. Since my parents don’t need a second 32-inch flatscreen television…..

The Bad……our current “refrigerator!” Our refrigerator began to warm over the weekend and didn’t stop. I made a service call to Sears this morning and I am waiting for them to come do a diagnosis. The food from the refrigerator side went into the coolers. Not everything would fit, but we got what we could in the coolers. It’s cold outside so the food is fine. The frozen food went into our small garage chest freezer.

Note the ice on the bottles of juice? Well, *that* is the ugly. We are in the beginnings of a storm that includes freezing rain/sleet and, ultimately, snow. Predictions are 12-18 inches of the white stuff. There is a winter weather advisory in effect until Wednesday at 6 pm. Come on Sears……I need the refrigerator fixed as soon as possible.
