This morning, I said welcome back to a pair of pants that I love, but have not been able to wear for quite a while. It’s so nice to finally lose some weight! In May, I had a uterine ablation done, meaning the doctor removed my uterine lining. For about 8 months before the surgery, I had been having what I considered one long menstrual cycle. It was not fun and I had reached the pointed of being anemic. I was missing at least one day of work per week and just had no energy at all. All I wanted to do was sleep. Also, I put on a lot of weight during that time. Not as much as the doctor expected, but still a substantial amount. I do have to be honest and admit that part of my weight gain was pure laziness too. I wasn’t paying any attention to what I was eating and I was certainly not exercising.
Not too long after my surgery, I started doing research about portion control and that sort of thing. I did not want to deprive myself of the foods I love, but I could not control my portions. The best suggestion I found was to eat your meals using a salad plate instead of a standard-size dinner plate. It REALLY works. Even that first night when I did it, I wasn’t hungry after finishing my much smaller salad plate portions. I get to eat the food I want to eat and not count every stupid calorie. It’s amazing the difference it makes. I’m able to wear some clothes that I haven’t worn in a long time. Now I’m just itching for the weather to get a bit better so that I can begin walking again! Come on weather! Cooperate with me!
