Going Through Life One Blog Post at a Time
Tonight, John and Laura were NUTS while in the bathtub. My ears hurt from the happy yelling! Laura was flipping around and sticking her feet in the air while John was using the bubble paddles as drumsticks and yelling at the top of his lungs. I suppose at least they were in a good mood! LOL
So, John decided to brush his own teeth before bed this evening. I was still upstairs helping Andy with the kitchen when Laura came running up the stairs saying, “Johnny is making a mess with the toothpaste!” I immediately headed for downstairs to find what I will forever refer to as “fun with toothpaste!”
For a while now, we have had a frog living behind one of our outdoor clocks. Today, Andy took the clock down to adjust the time. He was surprised to discover that we had two frogs living behind the clock. Since he disturbed them, they decided to sit on top of the clock before retreating back to their hiding places.
We returned to Western Illinois University for Homecoming today. We took the kids to the parade, around campus, to the Sigma Chi house, Aurelio’s Pizza for lunch (YUM!), to see the Rocky statue, and to the University Union.
Both kids had a great time! It was really fun to show them around. Laura asked a ton of questions. I think the favorite part for both of them was watching the parade and getting lots of candy. For me, it was watching the Marching Leathernecks play “Georgia On My Mind” at the WIU Alumni House. As a former Marching Leatherneck, that will forever hold a special place in my heart. For Andy, the experience of the whole weekend was his favorite part. We want to say a special thanks to Chuck and Karen Gilbert for letting us stay at their beautiful home and for their hospitality! It was truly a great weekend.
When we opened Laura’s Friday Folder from school today, inside were her first ever school pictures! I had ordered a sheet of 18 “exchange” pictures to give to her classmates, but I also ordered the picture on CD-ROM with the copyright release. She took such a good picture! When I told her that I LOVED it, she said, “Mommy, I did my best ice cream smile!”
John played outside for a while this evening. When he returned to the house, he was head to toe dirt!
We took the kids to the dentist today. Laura has been there before, but it was the first time for John. Laura was great as always. They even did an X-ray and all her adult teeth and her six-year molars are there. We also discovered that her top two middle teeth are loose. As for John, he cried, but the dentist just wanted to make sure all his teeth were in and that he didn’t have cavities. Because John let the dentist look at his teeth (even if his mouth was only open because he was crying), he got a special present – a bubble gun! All in all, it was a good and easy trip!
