The Kassel Family Project Life 365

As part of a unit on Force and Motion, Unit A took a field trip to the bowling alley.  Andy was one of the parent volunteers, so he got to go along.  Despite a little mix up – they were supposed to have 18 lanes for 88 kids, it was still a fun time.

Tonight, John told me all about bowling and how he enjoyed watching the ball roll down the lanes.  I think he was most excited at having rolled the bowling ball so hard that he knocked the bumper down and had a gutter ball.  The things that boys find fun…

It was a day of:

1. Working out – a walk for me and a bicycle ride for Andy,
2. Laundry,
3. Cleaning,
4. and not much else.

Sometimes, that is the way it goes.

Andy and I got a night out and we even had to get dressed up!  It was the closing banquet for Sig 2015 that included dinner and dancing – no, we did not spend any time on the dance floor – at the Holiday Inn Executive Center.  I did not take my camera in so I have no pictures of Andy and I together.  Laura did take a picture of me beforehand so that will have to work for the day.  It was a nice evening for Sigma Chi.  I am going to be tired tomorrow though…

Andy and I were invited to attend Sig 2015.  It is a Sigma Chi alumni event that happens every five years for the Delta Tau chapter at Westminster College (Fulton, MO).  This time was a bit different because the chapter had some issues and recently lost its charter.  That did not stop the alumni from holding the event and looking to the future.  We had a nice evening at the Sigma Chi house and I got to meet a lot of new people.  I often joke that I am “The Wife” at these events, but really being “The Wife” is fun.  Sigma Chi has been a large part of my life and I very much enjoy accompanying Andy to events.  Besides, it is an evening out with just the two of us.  Not a bad way to spend a Friday night.

While working on our family tree, Andy stumbled on some interesting information regarding his real father.  After a bit of investigating, he found the name of a woman – Laurie – who appeared to have been married at one time to his father.  He did some Facebook checking, found her, and sent a message.  She responded and she was, in fact, married to his father from 1978 until 1990.  Even more exciting was that Andy discovered that he has a half-sister – Rachel!  Yes, they have been talking via email and we hope to meet Rachel and her family (we also have two nephews!), along with Laurie, very soon!  I just want to say, “Welcome to the family Rachel and Laurie!  It is so great to have you!”  So, sometimes a broken family…

But…  Note to self:  Never attempt to take pictures of kids that finally feel better after feeling rotten for days because of a cold.  It takes many pictures to get one, good one.

Well, she didn’t get to wear it at the invitational, but she wore it to her gymnastics lesson.  Not quite the same thing, but close enough!
