The Kassel Family Project Life 365

Andy and I went to St. Louis for the evening to attend the annual Sid Weber Barbecue for Sigma Chi.  As with previous years, the food was fantastic and it was a great time!  Andy and I spent the evening talking to fraternity brothers from all over the St. Louis area.  One of the highlights for me was listening to the men sing “The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.”  I really do love that song!  Unfortunately, the four hours flew by and we were back on the road for home too quickly.  Thanks to Uncle B and Uncle Jeremy for watching the kids so Andy and I could go!

It was Back to School Night for Units B and C at Ridgeway Elementary tonight.  We visited John’s classroom and teachers first.  He is doing fairly well, but he needs to dial back that personality a bit.  He really likes to talk!  Hanging on the window in his classroom was his “Me Shirt.”  It’s too cute!

Next, we visited Laura’s classroom and teachers.  She is doing well as always aside from the fact that she needs to work on her spelling.  Laura’s class made bobblehead drawings.  Love it!

It was hard to believe that this year we actually had two kids at Back to School Night because Unit A does a separate event.  These kids are growing up.

What a game for the little man tonight!  At bat #1 = his first home run ever that just happened to be a grand slam.  At bat #2 = his second home run ever.

The funny thing is that at every game, I watch Andy lean on the fence to watch the boys play ball.  My whole point in taking a picture was to capture Andy watching John bat.  I had no idea that it was about to be a picture of the swing of John’s first home run ever and a grand slam at that!

I was cheering and almost forgot the crossing the plate picture, but I got it at the last second (even though you can’t see the *huge* smile on John’s face).

He was so excited, but he had more baseball to play.  John capped his night with a three-run homer.  Nearly identical pitch and nearly identical hit.  Tonight was just his night.  Of course, we had to celebrate a bit, so we went with the Creeches to Sonic.  Aunt Kristena did say that home runs earn ice cream!

Way to go John Buddy!  You earned that Hot Fudge Shake!

It is the first day of Sunday School and the kids are ready to go!

This is one of Laura’s new “Plaids,” otherwise known as a flannel shirt.  We cleaned out her closet about a month ago and had to pack up her three flannel shirts because she had outgrown them.  It was then that I realized that she called them plaids.  She told me that I had to get her more plaids to replace the ones that we were giving to Alia.  It took me a minute to realize what she was referring to.  So, I replaced her plaids today.  She was very excited to have two new plaids (even though Andy had to correct her and now they are back to being plain, old, boring flannel shirts)!
