…the kids say something that make your heart melt. While driving home from Laura’s gymnastics lesson this evening, Phil Vassar’s “Don’t Miss Your Life” was playing on the truck stereo. About halfway through the song, Laura said, “Mom, I am really glad that you and Dad don’t miss your life. You are always there for Johnny and I. You take us to our games and practices and Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. I love you, Mom.” I even got a little teary-eyed. Love that kid.
Mother’s Day!
It was a nice, relaxing Mother’s Day. The kids (and Andy) let me sleep until 8 am – what a great gift! As soon as I was up, both kids appeared with some gifts for me. I love the homemade gifts! John gave me a card that was all about me and flowers made from construction paper and popsicle sticks. Apparently, Andy had an interesting time trying to keep John from giving me the present early. Laura made me a card, a necklace, and a coupon booklet. I love the coupon booklet! The kid has some great ideas.
We spent the day around the house mostly just relaxing. Andy grilled steak for dinner, we had some wine, and the kids gave me lots of hugs. It was the perfect way to spend Mother’s Day.
Great!

Teacher Appreciation Week
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week at Ridgeway Elementary. Each day, the kids have done something different for their teachers. Tomorrow is “give your teacher a card” day. Laura and John decided to make their own. They are hard at work making great cards for Mrs. Sandstedt (Laura) and Mrs. Hanney (John)!
Apple Tree
Baseball
It was a busy night of baseball! First, John’s team had pictures at Cosmo Park. John did a great job and smiled big for the camera.
While his team was having their group picture taken, I snapped a few pictures as well.
After pictures, we went straight to Albert-Oakland Park for the first game of the season. John was a bit nervous, but he did very well. He did a great job paying attention while in the field. He played at pitcher, short stop, and center field. He was most excited to get to bat. John had two opportunities and he went 2-for-2.
John was also very happy to score two runs for his team! I have to say that I knew John could run pretty fast, but I was surprised at just how fast he was when running the bases. All in all, it was a successful first game. The next game is scheduled for Friday, but we shall see. It is supposed to rain/storm for the next five days…
