I love this Autumn Blaze Maple Tree in our yard. It always looks so beautiful this time of year!
Oh Truck…
…You are killing me. The torque converter is going out. So, instead of celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary the way we normally do in Hermann, Missouri, with Greg and Beth Van Hove, we will be $1,800 lighter the first week of November. We will still go to Hermann, but it will be a very strict budget day. No coming home with lots of wine. Oh well. Sometimes, being an adult sucks.

Busy Saturday
It was an extremely busy Saturday for the Kassel Family. First up, John had basketball evaluations for Upward Basketball that starts in January. He had to try on a sample uniform and do six, 30-second drills. He did a great job!
As soon as John and I got home from his basketball evaluation, Andy and John left to attend the Missouri Chestnut Roast. They rode from McBaine to New Franklin. It was a 40-mile, round trip bike ride and John did very well! Both he and Andy enjoyed the Chestnut Roast. I think John most enjoyed playing in the hay maze while Andy enjoyed sampling the different spirits from Wood Hat Spirits…
Meanwhile, I took Laura to Girl Scout Fall Fest! She got to spend time with lots of other Girl Scouts, do crafts, exchange SWAPS, have dinner around a campfire, and just enjoy herself.
In the meantime, Andy and John arrived home from the Missouri Chestnut Roast. I saw them for about 45 minutes before they headed off to attend the annual Van Hove Hayride and Bonfire. I picked up Laura from Fall Fest and took her to the Dothage Fun Complex for Kathryn’s 10th Birthday Sleepover. I spent the evening by the fire pit while Laura played with all her friends. It was a great, but busy day! Time to sleep now…

Cub Scout Pack Meeting
John’s Cub Scout Pack had an interesting topic at their meeting this evening – BATS! Yes, bats. A woman who rescues bats brought a brown bat and black bat and did a presentation for the boys. John was most excited because he got to pet and feed a bat. He said, “Mom, it was a really, super fun meeting, and bats are cool.” Enough said.
