Laura is not feeling well today. She came home from school with a sore throat and is slightly feverish. We shall see how she feels tomorrow. Fortunately, little brother spent a while trying to cheer her up.
Two Things
So, two things happened today. First, our refrigerator is fixed! We had to call Columbia Appliance, but it only cost us $114. The defrost thermostat was broken, making it so that the freezer was not defrosting properly. No defrost = no air movement. Best of all, no refrigerator replacement!
Secondly, the best part of today came in the form of an email…
We have loan approval from the underwriter! We are almost to that new house. We will see you soon 3711 Armadillo Drive!
Baseball!
Let Fall Baseball Season begin! First up was pictures…
…followed by the first game of the season. The team struggled a bit, but John had a pretty good game. He played first and second bases and nearly caught two, tough fly balls. I think John realized that it is a different ballgame when kids are pitching to you. John didn’t get to bat until the bottom of the third inning, but he hit a lead-off triple with the ball going to the middle of the outfield!
Not a bad start, but we did have a discussion about running the bases after a hit. That ball *should* have been a home run, because John can run fast. I suspect he will remember that next time.
Ugh
See my nice, empty, and clean refrigerator?
Well, I wish it was empty just because I cleaned it. Here is to hoping that the compressor relay that Andy ordered fixes it, because I really do *not* want to buy a new one only to move in 45 days. Thank goodness we have two mini refrigerators and the deep freeze. I still had to use the big cooler and buy ice though. Not fun…
Red Shoe Ride
Andy rode in the Red Shoe Ride with his cycling team today. It is a yearly fundraiser that Big Tree Cycling sponsors each year for the Ronald McDonald House.
Andy choose the 100-mile ride, which left Shakespeare’s South at 7:30 am.
He finished right about 2:45 pm and took the time to enjoy a beer and pizza with friends. It was a great day of fundraising for a great cause!
