Coffee is my friend this morning. The tornado sirens went off last night right after I had fallen into a deep, sound sleep. We are all fine, but I am extra tired this morning. Move over water. This is a job for coffee.

Reading Club
Laura has been participating in the Reading Club at school this year. It involves reading and reporting on eight award-winning books and then completing a project based on one of those books. If all of these are completed on time, the student gets to attend a field trip to the Children’s Literature Festival held at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Laura has completed the reading requirements. She spent all day today working on her project. She decided to make the “Goblet of Fire” from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
She worked very hard and the finished project looks great! Time to turn it in!
Busy Saturday!
It was a full Saturday of activities for us Kassels! Laura and I began the day delivering more Girl Scout cookies while Andy and John got ready for the Pinewood Derby. Then, it was off to the races!
John’s car did really well, finishing second in his Den for speed and fifth in the Pack overall. He was disappointed that he didn’t place in the top three in his Pack (he really wants that trophy), but he still did very well!
Laura and I left as soon as the Pinewood Derby was complete to get home to get her ready for the Girl Scout Sweetheart Dance. It is a bittersweet year, because this is her last Sweetheart Dance.
Andy made sure to make the night special with dinner at Red Lobster, the dance, and then a trip to Orange Leaf for a nightcap.
Laura looked so beautiful and grown up and Dad looked very handsome too. Oh, how I wish time would slow down just a little.
