Prairie Fork Conservation Area
Andy and John went on a field trip with Unit B to Prairie Fork Conservation Area today. Like Laura got to do last week, Andy and John rode their bikes to and from school. John complained about the hill on the way there, but he still did well.
John had a lot of fun on the field trip. His favorite part was the pond and trying to catch things in the net. His least favorite part was the prairie because he found it boring. Both of my boys had a great time on the field trip!
Happy Mother’s Day!
It was a great Mother’s Day! It started with Laura giving me this drawing. I have another picture for my work office. I was most surprised to see that she has a new way of signing her initials on her artwork. I love it!
The rest of the morning was spent enjoying coffee and crepes with Andy on the back deck. The weather was beautiful and it was very relaxing. We spent the afternoon at the Mother’s Day Family Fun Ride that is part of Bike, Walk, & Wheel Week.
What a great way to spend a couple of hours with my family! The ride was on the paved Hominy Creek trail, and it was about five miles round trip. The kids got to pick up stickers at the different stops along the way so they could make a card for me at the end. I really hope the PedNet Coalition makes this a permanent Mother’s Day event. It was so fun and I am really glad that we went. We all had a good time.
The rest of the day was spent doing some things around the house and eating a nice dinner on the back deck. It was a great, relaxing Mother’s Day with my family, and it was exactly what I wanted!

IGE in Action Night
It is almost the end of the school year and time for another IGE in Action Night, which is also Laura’s last one. It is always fun to see all the different projects that the kids make. This year, Laura’s project was all about the judicial branch of government. She made a diorama of the United States Supreme Court and did a tri-fold presentation about the judicial system.
John’s class studied Australia this year and all of their projects were related to that. His project was all about the emu. He made a diorama and a t-shirt.
Both kids did a great job and I am very proud of them! Only ten days of school left!
EEE Graduation
This kid… She graduated from EEE today and I find myself wondering how we are only eleven school days away from her Fifth Grade Graduation and the end of her time at Ridgeway Elementary. I blinked and she started Kindergarten. I blinked again and here we are.
Each student gave a speech titled “Famous Last Words.” I am so very proud of her! Despite being nervous, she did a great job! She gave me her speech to put in her memory box, but I had to take a picture first.
It is hard to believe that she is nearly in middle school. I wish time would slow down. Just a little…
