It is Cub Scout Popcorn and Burgers’ Smokehouse meat time again! If anyone wants to purchase any, I know a Cub Scout that would be thrilled to sell to you!
Bridge to Cadettes!
We hosted Laura’s Girl Scout Troop for Court of Awards and Bridging to Cadettes this evening.
Court of Awards began with presenting each of the girls with their membership pin for the past year. Laura has now been a Girl Scout for five years and she shows no signs of stopping!
This Court of Awards was even more special because Laura, along with four others in her troop, earned their Bronze Awards. This is the first step to becoming a Gold Award Girl Scout (the Girl Scout equivalent to an Eagle Scout). She and Jade made signs with the Pledge of Allegiance, Girl Scout Promise, and Girl Scout Law to display at Silver Meadows, the local Girl Scout Camp.
Laura’s Bronze Award pin will follow her through the rest of Girl Scouts. We are so proud of her! Congratulations Laura!
She finished Court of Awards by bridging to Cadettes. What a great five years it has been and I can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes!
Celebration Ride
We took a ride to Les Bourgeois Winery with Tim and Renee, friends from Big Tree Cycling, to celebrate my new bike. We made it to the winery in about an hour and ten minutes, which is impressive given that I had no idea I could ride that fast. I know I have gotten better, but a great trail bike and clipless pedals make a world of difference. We spent the evening chatting with good drinks and the gorgeous views at sunset.
We stayed until the A-Frame closed and then headed back. Along the way, we decided to stop at the Station House, a restaurant off the trail, and found a few of the people who work at CycleX. We got some food and drinks and then proceeded to close down stop #2 for the night. We rode most of the way back to Columbia as one large group. It was just a great, fun way to spend a Saturday!
Cadette!
I took a trip to the Girl Scout Store in Jefferson City today to get the rest of the things for Laura’s Cadette vest. She is ready for bridging from a Junior to Cadette on Sunday!
New Bike Day!!!
In April, we bought my road bike. “New Bike Day” is supposed to be fun, but truthfully, New Bike Day was anything but fun. It was my first ride with clipless pedals, my first ride up Rangeline during rush hour, and my first try at keeping up with Andy (who had to slow down. A LOT.). It was enough to make me want to cry. Well, I didn’t give up and, today, it was completely different! My new Specialized Diverge (trail and gravel bike) is in and, after getting all the necessary accessories and the all-important bike fitting, off we went! What a difference some confidence gets you. She took me for quite a ride with a bunch of personal records. There are two rides to Rocheport planned for this weekend and I can’t wait. Bring it on!
Women’s Ride Wednesday
Love these rides! There were 11 of us tonight and it is so uplifting to just ride and enjoy the time with great women. I am really, really going to miss these when they end for the year, and I know that time is coming soon…
School Picture Clothes
I consider myself lucky. I didn’t have to argue with John about wearing a polo shirt for school pictures today! He even agreed to wear the red instead of the light blue because he had worn shades of light blue the last two years. He can wear his athletic shorts on the bottom. No one will see those anyway!
