Andy and I squeezed in a ride tonight while John was at baseball practice. I was keeping up quite the pace and it paid off in a Queen of the Mountain for me! Even better was that we ran into some friends and rode with them for a bit. The bike just always makes me feel better, and I really do love riding with Andy.

New Kitchen Computer
About ten days ago, Andy was working on some upgrades to our kitchen computer. One of the upgrades ended up killing it and requiring a new motherboard. Andy found one on eBay, but it would ship from China. I really did not want to wait the month that it would take to get the replacement motherboard because the kitchen computer is my main computer. I use it for everything, including paying our bills. So, we bought a new one from NewEgg for $400. I love it! The monitor is larger than the old one and it matches the stainless steel appliances.
And, we did buy the new motherboard for the old computer. Andy is going to replace it, so that we can sell it. That means that we get rid of the old machine and we even might make a bit of money off of it. It’s a win-win.
Jennifer
What to say? My main partner in crime is moving on. I will miss Jennifer Goyne everyday at work, but sometimes you have to go to the bigger and better. We will always have CliftonStengths, memes, Brussels sprouts, climbing furniture, and jokes no one understands but us. Best of luck, my friend! You will do great things! And, no need to worry because I know where to find you!

Job Interview
I enjoyed a post-interview Oil Change Stout at Flat Branch today. It was both celebratory for getting an interview for a job that could be the next step up in my career and a “Whew! Glad I got through it.”
For reference, I have been applying for new jobs in the past six months or so. I do not see a bright future with my current organization and it is time to move on. Our current director is just not interested in growing the staff or improving our skills in any way. She is also not interested in promoting from within the organization and she really feels that everyone who leaves is simply leaving for their dream job. There are other things as well, but I have been stagnant for a while now and I am tired of it. So, I started sending out my resume for other positions. Today, I interviewed with University Extension for a job that would be both challenging and constantly moving. It would be something I could really dig myself into and I would be part of a real team that wants to grow and improve. It would also get me back into people management and project management – two things that I have missed so much this last six years. I should know next week whether or not I will be changing jobs. If I don’t get the job, I will be disappointed, but I realized today that I was selected for an interview for a job that is the next step up. In a town where everyone is overqualified, has multiple degrees, and work experience is actually looked down upon, it was a real confidence booster!
