I have new favorite Thanksgiving decorations. When the wine glasses speak to you, you must buy them. I will be using the “Let’s Get Ready to Gobble” glass.

I also could not pass up this guy. He just looks so worried. I just had to give him a home!

Sometimes, you have to upgrade. Andy and I each got a Pixel 5, and we upgraded Laura to a Pixel 4a. That led to John finally, FINALLY getting a phone even if it is Andy’s “old” Pixel 2.

Yes, the second “FINALLY” is straight from John’s mouth. We are terrible parents because we waited until he was 12 to allow him to have a phone.
On a side note, John has actually called both Andy and I over the last two days to ask for permission to stay longer at a friend’s house. Let me say that again. John CALLED us. He did not TEXT us. Maybe John hasn’t figured out quite yet how to not answer his phone and then immediately text us back. I am so confused. I was unaware that pre-teens knew how to call someone…
Somehow, Andy and I have managed to stay married to each other for 24 years. To celebrate, we spent the day in Hermann enjoying great food…

…great wine…

…and beautiful weather.

We celebrated all the life we have seen during the last 24 years – three apartments, two houses, two kids, four pets, eight vehicles, nine jobs, a million laughs, some tears, up days, down days, happy days, angry days, fun days, and tough days. Thanks for sticking it out with me. I love you, Andy! Happy Anniversary!
It is John’s last Hickman High School hitting clinic. He is really looking forward to getting back on the field with the “big boys!”

Happy Halloween!

It was a low-key event this year thanks to COVID-19. We did not have our regular Halloween bash, but we still made the most of it. We invited one family to join us and the kids had a few friends over. We got to enjoy a fire in our driveway…

…while we handed out candy using tongs.

We still ate tasty chili. Andy just made smaller batches this year.

The adults hung out in the driveway and the kids had the run of the house. It was a pretty good way to spend Halloween in these crazy times, but I cannot wait until things return to normal. I missed having everyone over!

We went to Shryock’s Corn Maze tonight.

This family tradition is a bit different as the kids are getting older. It isn’t as fun as it used to be. Something about wandering a corn maze isn’t quite as interesting as it used to be.

We still managed to find four of the eight markers and we got all the answers correct. (Thank you, Google!)

After wandering for over two miles in the corn field, we enjoyed the Gator Wagon food truck for dinner and sat around the fire to warm up. It was not a bad way to spend the day before Halloween!

Step One: Clean out the inside of the pumpkins.

Step Two: Take pictures of kids with the non-carved pumpkins.

Step Three: Draw designs on the pumpkins.

Step Four: Carve pumpkins.

Step Five: Pile carved pieces together for the compost bin.

Step Six: Take pictures of kids with finished jack-o-lanterns!
