“You don’t need a ticket to see some of the best baseball in the world. You just need to drive one of the players to the game.” -Unknown

My favorite baseball quote is so true! We were treated to some of the best baseball in the world all weekend with our Mid-MO Stars bringing home the 12u Show-Me State Games championship!

It was five straight wins of great pitching, solid defense, and powerful bats. These boys never disappoint. They have heart. They play hard. They love the game.

Six championships since August 2020 is simply amazing. I hope these boys look back 20 years from now and remember this time, because it doesn’t get any better than this.

Congratulations Stars! You earned those medals! This rally clap is for you!
The boys did it! They finished pool play 3-0 and are the top seed from their bracket. They play at 8 am tomorrow and the winner of that game plays for the Show-Me State Games championship. Go Stars!

The Mid-MO Stars won their first pool play game tonight, 10-3.

John did not play much in the field as his calf muscle is bothering him a lot, but he had a great night at the plate with a walk and two doubles as the extra hitter.

The boys have two more pool play games tomorrow. They need to win one to make Sunday’s championship bracket. Go Stars!
Since John plays in the Show-Me State Games tomorrow night, we went out for Andy’s birthday dinner a day early. It was a beautiful night for dinner at the Les Bourgeois Blufftop Bistro.

Andy and I got to enjoy a new Collector’s Series wine. We will definitely have to make a trip to the winery to try the other two new ones.

Our meals were all wonderful. John even tried the catfish and spent the entire meal raving about how great it was. We finished the meal with three desserts – two types of cheesecake and a chocolate flourless cake.

Happy Birthday, Andy!

Years ago, Andy showed me the beginnings of how to make homemade Marinara Sauce and my love of cooking began. He had no idea the door he was opening that night, but I am so thankful that he did. Over the years, I have made some amazing things, some good things, and some “WTF? NEVER AGAIN” things. Through all those successes, okays, and failures, I discovered that the kitchen is my solace. Tonight, I began passing the Marinara Sauce recipe down to Laura. It is a process. I measure nothing unless you count the two cans each of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. I had flashbacks of me learning how to make homemade pie crust and apple pie from my mom. All I can hope is that someday, Laura will remember tonight and maybe find a tiny bit of solace in the kitchen. My kitchen is home. It is my space. It is always good to be home.
