Laura had to get her five-year immunizations today. Four were required, so that meant three shots as two of those are combined. We also decided to do the Hepatitis A vaccine, which is not required at the moment but is most likely coming. Laura did cry, but she was a trooper. They even gave her four stickers instead of the normal two.

Reflections on P365 My Way
It’s been just over six months since I started my Project 365 – My Way. I really thought when I started this that it wouldn’t amount to much other than a month or so of posts and then I would slowly stop posting. I’m proud to say that I haven’t missed one day! Yes, I’m aware that I cheat and don’t post every single day, but with the beauty of the Internet, I can publish a day or two later and date it for the day it actually happened. My point is that I’m still going and I really LOVE it! These posts hold so many memories that I would so easily forget otherwise….like the first time I heard John count to five or Laura’s complete excitement over her Kindergarten backpack. It’s such a great experience – so much so, that I’ve already decided that I’ll continue this for the years to come and I’m in the middle of making a photo book on Shutterfly documenting everything you read every day on my blog. So, Jill (and indirectly Colleen!), thanks SO much for talking it up so much! I appreciate it more than you both know!
John Was a Little Tired….
The Birthday Party!
Today, we celebrated Laura turning 5 and John turning 3 with a combined birthday party. Lots of family and friends came to wish the kids a Happy Birthday! I think that everyone had a great time. There was dinner, a pinata, cake and ice cream, and a movie (How to Train Your Dragon – as if Laura would ever pick any OTHER movie). John was good with cake and presents and the rest was just extra fun for him.
Now, on to pictures! The kids getting ready to open the pinata. The second ribbon that Laura pulled opened the cupcake.
The kids with their cakes – John’s cake was Cars and Laura’s was The Little Mermaid.
Presents! Laura with her new camera that actually didn’t work so we have to take it back.
John with his new truck that Grandpa Ken made.
It was a very fun day, but the entire Kassel family was exhausted afterwards. Thanks to everyone for coming and helping make the day very special for the kids! Both Laura and John said they had a lot of fun and want to do it again next year.
John Turns 3!
I got my www.babycenter.com email today on John. I’ve been getting these emails since I was pregnant with Laura. They first talk about the stages of pregnancy and what to expect, etc. Once the baby is born, you enter the birthdate and you begin to get emails about child development. For the last two years, I’ve been getting emails about “My Toddler This Week” (John). Today’s email was about “My Preschooler This Week.” He’s passed into the preschooler stage. I’ll maybe get over the shock of that when he starts Kindergarten.
John’s birthday was lots of fun! At daycare, they went to the sprayground and then to swimming lessons. Cheryl gave John a ball and bat set and a golf set! Once John got home, he got to open two more gifts from us! More planes because, obviously, he can never have enough planes….
After that, we made John’s requested birthday dinner of Chicken Nuggets (a homemade recipe I found and they are quite good!) and French Fries. Not too long after we finished those, Grandpa Ralph, Grandma Marianne, and Thomas arrived in town for tomorrow’s birthday party! The kids played for a while and then it was time for bed! Big sleep is necessary for the birthday party tomorrow!
Laura Turns 5!
Laura turned five today! I simply can’t believe she’s five! The time has just flown by and my tiny, little baby girl is now five. I might get over the shock of that by the time she’s six. As for her birthday, she said that it was a great day. At daycare, they went to see “Planet 51” and to Dairy Queen for ice cream. After naps, she got to have her birthday party at daycare. They ate cupcakes and Laura got puzzles and make up for presents. On my way home at noon today, I picked up balloons to surprise the kids. When Laura saw the balloons, she said, “What the heck?” Then, she ran over to her balloons (Ariel from “The Little Mermaid”) and immediately noticed her present from us. She opened up her Belle Barbie Doll and was very excited.
After all that was done, the kids helped me stuff their birthday pinata (Don’t ask me why they had to have a pinata, but Laura insisted….I’m a pushover, so they have a pinata.). For dinner, we ate Laura’s selected menu of pork chops, “favorite noodles”, and broccoli! After dinner, the kids spent time playing and I read a book to them. All in all, it was a fun day! Now on to John’s birthday…..
