Grandpa Ken and Grandma Marilyn are in town! I tried to get a good picture of the kids with them, but that would require that the kids sit still for one second. When the grandparents are in town, the kids are crazy. Either way, it’s been a good visit!
Rainbows and Clouds
We’ve had some big storms recently, but between it all you sometimes get the beauty of nature.
The above was a vibrant rainbow that you could see from our back deck. It’s not as vibrant in the picture, but it was beautiful. The below was a beautiful shot of the clouds as another storm was rolling in.
College days….
I was on Facebook today and was looking back through some of my old photo albums. I stopped on the one from my sorority days and just kept flipping through the photos. I keep up with a lot of my sorority sisters these days through Facebook. One sister in particular though I miss more than any.
Carol (Rakestraw) Tisdale and I have been through a lot! She’s the one in the black and white dress in the above picture. This one was taken at our formal at the Pzazz hotel. What a fun night! Carol was my “date” that night because the guy that was supposed to go had a school conflict at the last minute. It all worked out though because it was one of the absolute best nights at college. She graduated the semester of this picture, but it didn’t matter. She’s always been there even when I didn’t think I needed her to be. She was my maid of honor at my wedding and I was in her wedding. One time, we went nearly a year without speaking because of life. Once we reconnected, it was like I had just seen her the day before. Some people in life come and go, but some are always there. She’s one of my best friends even though we don’t see each other much anymore. If I needed her, she’d be in the car on the way in the middle of the night and I hope she knows I would do the same for her! Love you Carol!
Air Conditioner
We woke up this morning to a non-functioning air conditioner. The fan was blowing air inside the house, but it wasn’t getting cold. Andy took a look outside and the fan on the compressor wasn’t turning. So, insert a call to Chapman Heating and Cooling. As always, they were quick and efficient – truly awesome repair for anyone in the Columbia area. The best part? No diagnostic charge because they just did the routine yearly maintenance less than two weeks ago. Turns out the capacitor that runs the fan motor was DOA. I was quite happy to only pay $189. Not bad really.
Planting Flowers
The big thing on the agenda today was getting all the flowers planted.
Laura really wanted to help so she helped me plant the marigolds around our mailbox post.
Andy did the vast majority of the planting along with some other yardwork that needed to be done. The only thing left is to get our veggies in the ground in our garden. I’m crossing my fingers that Andy can get the garden work done sometime this week.
First Sleepover!
Laura (and John) had her first sleepover with her best friend EVER, Kathryn. To give you an idea of how big of a deal this was, Laura was jumping up and down and screaming for joy when I told her that Kathryn was coming over to spend the night. Until Kathryn arrived today, Laura kept asking, “How much longer until Kathryn gets here?” Kathryn arrived right about 4:40 and it was an evening of playing, eating, and movies. All three kids were so excited and had lots of fun!
