We spent our time after the kids went to bed enjoying a nice, cozy fire on our back porch. Our neighbors, The Hendersons, came to enjoy some great conversation, good drinks, and a beautiful evening!
Fall Cleaning and Decorating
Well, since we have a three-day weekend, I decided it was fall cleaning and decorating weekend. I figure if I break it up over a few days, I might actually get it all done. So far, I’ve been “helped” by Laura and John and my house looks like a tornado ran through it. (Why is it that when cleaning the house always gets messier before it gets clean?) My tentative schedule goes something like this…
Up for Saturday is the Living Room, Dining Room, Entryway, Family Room, and Andy’s and My Bedroom.
On Deck for Sunday is Laundry Sunday, All Bathrooms, and the Kitchen.
Finishing on Monday is the Kids’ Bedroom and the Office.
I save the Office for last because while it is a small room, there is always a lot of stuff to clean around and put away. It takes some time! At least when all is done on Monday, I’ll have a sparkly, clean house!
Progress Report
What do you do on an extremely hot day?
Singing and Dancing
For a while now, I will play a Sugarland song, “Stuck Like Glue”, from the Internet. Laura loves that particular song and always asks for that one. We will often sing and dance while it’s playing. She’ll sit on the counter and dance and I’ll dance around the kitchen.
When she asked for that song again tonight, it occurred to me that I wonder if she’ll remember these goofy times with Mom when she’s my age. Now and then, I’m struck by the goofy things that she and I will do or will talk about. I find myself thinking, “I hope some day she’ll look back and think about me and these things and maybe do the same things with her children.” Special moments with Mom.
Media Center
Laura checked out her first books from the Ridgeway Elementary Media Center today. She was so excited to bring her books home and show us. She also talked about the whole process of checking out books, including the “space savers” that the kids use to mark what shelf they took a book from. Her media center day is every Tuesday, so she will return the books next Tuesday and come home with new ones.
The First Tooth!
Laura lost her first tooth last night! She was showing Daddy how loose it was and she managed to break it loose to the point that it was laying flat. So, Mommy pulled it the rest of the way out.
Look at that great smile!
The Tooth Fairy came to visit Laura and *because* the Tooth Fairy was completely unprepared and didn’t have a dollar bill, Laura got $5! She was very excited to put that $5 in her piggy bank.
