Andy and I went to the Mizzou vs. Alabama Men’s Basketball Game this evening. Thanks to Jenna and Brian for babysitting so we could have a night out! The game was fun and Mizzou played pretty well. We stopped by the Tiger Team Store before the game and I ended up getting a silver necklace that says “Mizzou.” It occurred to me that I am officially, really a Tigers fan and not just a transplant fan anymore. When you buy jewelry, it’s serious. If the Fighting Illini came to town, I’d be cheering for the Tigers (though I’ll always cheer on my beloved Leathernecks whenever they play Mizzou)! When you find yourself eagerly anticipating the antics of Truman the Tiger and participating in the Missouri Waltz, it’s best just to admit you are a real fan. Go Tigers!

The Sunday of Nothing
I am still not feeling well. I feel slightly better than yesterday, but only slightly. That made today a largely pointless day. My main goal for today besides laundry was to begin taking all the Christmas decorations down. I had hoped to have both trees down at the very least. Well, they are both still up. Andy managed to put the Christmas inflatables away and get the lights down from around our front door and garage door. I, however, managed nothing. Oh well… There is always tomorrow.
Busy Day!
It was a busy day for all of us. Unfortunately, I woke up feeling awful with a sore throat and sinus pressure. Ibuprofen helped a bit, but I had no time for illness. We headed out about 10 am for Kid’s Workshop at Home Depot. January was “get rid of all the leftover projects” month, so the kids had their choice. Laura chose a bulletin board; John chose a helicopter. As always, the kids had a great time building. Both were concentrating very hard and being very careful while they hammered. John always rolls his tongue up as if it’s his upper lip.
Laura sticks her tongue out.
Both were very proud of their finished projects. John “flew” his helicopter all over Home Depot and Laura planned for painting her bulletin board. We will be adding paint (she’s still deciding on a color) and putting Girl Scout stickers on it. After a bit of shopping, we headed home for a quick lunch. Andy and I had tickets to the Mizzou vs. Bucknell game. Jenna and Brent arrived about 1:30 for “babysittering” and Andy and I headed for Mizzou Arena. We had a great time at the game despite my pounding head from the sinus pressure. I made sure to take a few pictures of the cheerleaders for Laura and I particularly enjoyed watching them bouncing Truman The Tiger around. It was a fun thing to watch.
It turned out to be a close game with Mizzou pulling out a win in the final seconds. Mizzou didn’t play their best, but they did enough to pull out the win. We arrived home about 6 pm. I made tacos for dinner and then we put the kids to bed. I headed to bed right away because I was feeling much worse and falling asleep on my feet. It was a fun, but very tiring day.
Let the Cookie Sales Begin!
The Kassel Clan went to the Girl Scout cookie sales kick off tonight for Laura’s Daisy Scout troop. Cookie Sales have officially begun! If any of you want some Girl Scout cookies, I know a super cute redhead that would LOVE to sell you some! Just let me know and I’ll have her contact you. She is so excited to sell cookies for the first time and can’t wait to get going! If you don’t want cookies, but would like to help out her troop, donations are welcomed too. She set a low goal of only 25 boxes because she wants to earn a patch for her tunic, but she also said, “It is my first time selling cookies and I want to be real. *BUT* I can work towards my goal and then aim for more if I meet it!” So, off we go into cookie-selling land!
