Both Laura and John are celebrating their “birthdays” at school this week. Laura took Jolly Ranchers for all of Unit B today and John is taking Rice Krispie Treats tomorrow. John was excited to help make the treats for his classmates this evening. Originally, I was going to deliver the treats to school and be there for his celebration, but he decided he wanted to be a big boy and not have me there. These kids… They think they need to grow up or something…

Just Don’t Ask…
While I was getting ready this morning, John appeared in the bathroom wearing his baseball hat.
See, I know John and I was confused as to how he managed to wake up enough to get his baseball hat out of the bin after having just woken up. Turns out, I was incorrect in my assumption that he put it on this morning. He actually put it on last night after Andy and I had put the kids to bed. The following conversation occurred…
- Me: John, why are you wearing your baseball hat?
- John: I slept in it.
- Me: Why did you do that?
- John: Because.
- Me: Didn’t that hurt your head?
- John: No. I was sleeping.
Note to me… Don’t ask next time. Just don’t ask.

Family Fishing Day
The Kassels participated in Family Fishing Day at Finger Lakes State Park this morning. Laura and John got to learn about fishing safety and spend some time fishing. The weather was perfect and it was a fun morning. Laura was definitely more patient than John. She seemed to really enjoy just sitting and relaxing while watching the bobber.
John’s favorite part was casting. He could have done that for hours, and I mean HOURS.
No fish were caught by the Kassels, but it was good, family time and a very nice way to spend a Saturday morning.
