It was dinner with the Lowerys tonight! On the menu was Grilled Italian Sausages with Sweet and Sour Peppers and rice. It was a fun night with great friends, but I forgot to take a picture… I must be slipping.
My New, Favorite Photo…
This is my new, favorite photo of the kids. I took this at Shelter Gardens on Easter morning. It happened in a complete moment of frustration for me. I was trying to get Laura and John to sit up, be centered on the bench, and smile nicely. Instead, they decided to continue laying on each other and I got this picture. Sometimes, I need to let the kids be kids and just go with the flow…
Easter!
He is risen; He is risen indeed! Happy Easter everyone! We began our day as we always do… VERY early at Easter Sunrise Service at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. It was a gorgeous morning and the service was great. It is always my favorite church service each year. It was wonderful to enjoy the outdoors and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. After service, we went to Bob Evans for breakfast and then to Shelter Gardens for a walk. Of course, I took the camera and we got some great pictures of the kids.
After our walk, we went back to St. Andrew’s for the church Easter Egg hunt. The goal was to collect 20 eggs and then turn them in for a bag of candy and prizes. I am not sure that there were enough eggs on the side lawn. What do you think?!?
After the fun of the Easter Egg hunt, we went home to discover that the Easter Bunny had visited our house! The kids were so excited to find their baskets. It was a fight to get them to sit down long enough for me to take one picture of them with the Easter baskets…
The Easter Bunny brought many different things, but the kids’ favorites are their new Nerf toys. John got two guns (one very large and one very small) and Laura got the Rebelle Heartbreaker Bow. She had been dreaming of this bow for a while. Laura was so excited that she really wanted us to just open it up instead of searching for Easter eggs.
After digging through their baskets, the kids were off to search for Easter eggs. This year, a different Easter Bunny visited our house and that bunny was tricky!
We were still finding eggs throughout the day… The kids had a great time looking for and then opening all the eggs. It was lots of candy and $5 for each of them.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing outdoors, doing laundry (it is still a Sunday), and eating a great Easter dinner. It will be early to bed, but it really was the perfect way to spend Easter.
Mizzou Baseball and Coloring Easter Eggs!
While Mizzou Baseball and coloring Easter eggs may not sound like they go well together, in fact, they do! We went to the Mizzou Baseball game on this gorgeous, Saturday afternoon. We sat in the front row and had a great view. Unfortunately, it was a long game and Mizzou lost, but it was still fun to go.
Once we got home, it was time to color Easter eggs. This is always a highlight for the kids. I usually hard boil 14 eggs, because often two will break. This year was an exception and all 14 eggs were perfect. (Did I mention my new set of pots are amazing?!?) We use the traditional coloring kit with six colors – yellow, orange, red, green, blue, and purple.
This year was different from past years because Laura and John are finally old enough to put the eggs in the dye themselves. I was afraid the eggs would break because the kids would just drop them in the dye, but both did a great job. John put eggs in the yellow, orange, and red colors…
…while Laura took care of the green, blue, and purple colors.
The result was 14 colored eggs that are all ready and waiting for the Easter Bunny tomorrow!
Movie Night!
Four!
A trip to the dentist for the kids revealed that John doesn’t have just *one* loose tooth. In fact, he has FOUR! I think Little Man is going to be looking rather toothless soon…
