The Bedtime CD
When Laura was born, our church gave us a CD of “Sleepy Time Tunes.” It was supposed to be just for the first year, but we still play it every night for the kids. If we forget to turn on the CD player, both kids let us know it. I wondered tonight just how much longer we will be playing that CD at bedtime.
Birthday Party!
Today was birthday party day! We held the combined party at Lake of the Woods Swimming Pool with 19 of their friends. I think it is safe to say that everyone, including the parents, had a great time. The weather was hot, but that just made the water perfect for swimming. There was much jumping, sliding, and fun! The kids collected some food for the Central Missouri Food Bank and they got some nice presents as well. Thanks to everyone who came! They kids loved it! Now, on to pictures…
We began the day by picking up cakes at Hy-Vee. Laura chose a Despicable Me 2 cake. She gets to keep the minion toy and, much to her delight, it floats.
John chose a MarioKart cake and he gets to keep Mario and Luigi.
John could not wait to get in the pool. None of that easing into it for him!
Laura and her friends went down the slide many, many times. The slides are one of the reasons she loves Lake of the Woods Swimming pool.
We gathered all the kids pretty early for cake. It was so hot that I was afraid the buttercream frosting would start to melt. It got a little windy when we lit the candles so Laura blew out the “lighter candle.”
After some more pool time, the kids opened their presents. Laura was excited to receive all kinds of neat things like an Ever After High doll, art supplies, and many other things.
John was just excited to be opening presents. Among his favorites were four water cannons that got put to good use right away.
I tried to take pictures of everything, but present opening with kids is chaotic at best… After present time was over, the kids hit the pool for more swimming fun. It really was just a great afternoon. I don’t think it could have been better!

Camp Mudd Sleepover #3
It is time for another sleepover at Camp Mudd. It is hard to believe that this is the third sleepover and that there are only two more left (four weeks of camp total). The summer is half over! The theme this week was “Pirate Week,” so all the skits were based on that. Laura’s and John’s groups performed their skits together. Laura was Tinkerbell.
John was a Pirate.
The skits were fun and cute as always. After it was over, we said goodnight to the kids and headed out to Flat Branch for a great beer and dinner. It was a great Thursday night all around.
