My boys finished the Lego City cargo plane set that John helped to purchase while we were in Chicago over Thanksgiving. Very nice!
Scouts!
It was a day of Girl Scout and Cub Scout activities. I took Laura to Valhalla’s Gate to complete a service project for the University of Missouri Kappa Delta (KD) Sorority. The women of KD do so much for the Girl Scouts that Laura’s Service Unit wanted to do something in return for them. A group of about 70 Girl Scouts made goodie bags for the KDs for their upcoming Finals week. Laura’s troop rotated through three stations and then helped to put together each of the bags. It was a fun service project and Laura was very glad to participate.
Just as Laura and I finished up her service project, Andy and John met his Cub Scout Den at the Columbia Fire Department’s Fire Station #6 for a visit. Big thanks to Keith Dothage for making the visit possible. The boys had a great time and paid close attention. They got to see the inside of a fire truck, watch Firefighter Sam climb the ladder, and learn all about the gear that firefighters wear. John loved his visit and was very excited to tell me all about it.
It was a busy, yet fun day, of scouting. I love that the kids get to have all these different experiences!
Kid’s Workshop
We have missed the last few Kid’s Workshops at Home Depot because of other things, but we made it there this morning. The kids were excited to make Holiday Yard Stakes that included a snowflake, snowman, and gingerbread man. John went first and had help from Daddy.
Laura worked on her own and then Andy helped her finish.
While it was an easy project that included only two nails per stake, the kids were still the picture of concentration while using the glue and hammer. They finished up the project by picking out just the “right” set of stickers for each stake. Mission accomplished!
TV Dinner
Welcome Back!
It’s beginning…
Gremlins!
We spent the evening with the EEE 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders and their families watching the movie, Gremlins. It is amazing that it premiered 30 years ago. My how movies have changed… Still, it was great to watch it with our kids. As for the kids thoughts on the movie? Well, Gizmo was super cute, and the movie was both funny and scary. Fun night!
