A sure sign that school is ending in this household is new artwork on the kids’ display bars.
Grant’s Farm!
Laura’s class took a field trip to Grant’s Farm today. Andy went along and led a group of three around the park.
They went to the “Animal Encounters” and “Elephant Education” shows. They got to see lots of different animals, including a wallaby and her joey (baby). I think I might even be rubbing off on that husband of mine…
He saw this sign and took a picture of it despite Laura’s demand to know why. I saw this picture and immediately knew it was going to have to be part of the Pictures of the Day. Andy told me that is the reason he took it. See? I am rubbing off…
It was a fun day for both Laura and Andy even though they did not get to see the Clydesdales. Our family will definitely have to schedule a visit soon!
One Million…
Necessary…
Ouch. It was an expensive day. We went to Men’s Wearhouse to get Andy a new suit, because, while his current suit is in great shape, it is old and dated. On the way to the store, Andy pointed out that his current suit is 20 years old. As in, he got the suit right after he graduated from college… Since Men’s Wearhouse had a buy one, get one free sale going on, Andy will have two new suits. He ended up getting two gray suits – one dark and one light. One was in stock – we pick it up May 27 – and only needs some minor alterations. Andy ordered the other because they did not have that color in stock. By the way, who knew there were so many options to consider when buying a suit?!? I am still in sticker shock, but given how long the last one lasted (also from Men’s Wearhouse), it is all fine in the end. It was just shocking to see the final price. It will be worth it though and I am sure the new suits will last another 20 years.
Lessons…
Today, Laura had a birthday party for a friend at Going Bonkers. She was tired from a crazy Friday night, and ended up having a meltdown (yes, they still happen – even at 8) and an argument with Mom. Suffice it to say, I felt awful for arguing with her and it was even worse after she called me a bully. One of Laura’s friends stepped in and talked to her for a bit and calmed her down. After the party, she was much happier and asked if we could go out to dinner. As we were walking into Lone Star Steakhouse, Laura said, “Thanks for fighting with me, Mom. It taught me a lesson.” I asked, “What lesson?” Laura replied, “That I don’t always get what I want. I need to remember that sometimes. I love you, Mom.” Huh. That tough love thing really can work…
Last…
It is John’s last Unit A Friday Folder and *OUR* last Unit A Friday Folder. This mom is sad.
It is Laura’s last Unit B Friday Folder, but Mom and Dad still have two years of Unit B Friday Folders. So, this mom is not that sad over this one, *BUT* I am still stunned that Laura will be in Unit C next year.
