So, I realize that it is March *and* it is 80 degrees outside, but a Candy Cane Martini just sounded (and tastes) delicious…

Duty to God
John finished his Duty to God requirements for Cub Scouts today. He made a poster with pictures of the different Boone County War Memorials and then gave a short presentation at his Den meeting. Even though he was nervous, he did a good job. Way to go John!

FunDay!
It was another successful Ridgeway Elementary FunDay! Each kid brought a friend. Kathryn has now gone to every FunDay with us and John brought Brayden for his second FunDay. It was a much different year for Andy and I because the kids are now old enough to go around the school without us. It was nice to be able to wander around, check out the Silent Auction, and talk to other parents without having to worry about keeping up with the kids. Laura ended up winning one of the teacher raffle prizes (she was very excited!) and we won three things in the Silent Auction, one of which was admission to the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, KS. It really was a FunDay!
End of the Season
Our first season of Upward Basketball and Cheerleading came to a close this evening. John’s team played first. John did not make any baskets, but he played very well for his last game and he earned the silver star for offense. His ball handling skills really improved over the season and he definitely understands how to play the game much more.
Laura’s squad cheered the second game of the night. At halftime, they got to show off their newest stunt.
Her squad will perform at Awards Night on March 22. It was a great season and the kids really had fun. We will be participating again next year!
Cheer!
Six girls getting to stunt with the Hickman High School Cheer Squad. Tonight, Laura and her Upward Cheer squad (the Sparklers) got to have a special practice that included watching the last thirty minutes of the “big girls” practice followed by this.
I don’t think I have ever seen such big smiles on six little cheerleaders faces! Thanks to Molly Lyman and especially the Sparklers three awesome coaches for making this happen!
