So, this guy who said he was never going to pitch threw three strikeouts in his inning on the mound tonight! Way to go, John!
Afghan
An afghan that was knitted by my Grandmother, Ruby Baars, was delivered today all the way from Michigan. My Aunt Mona had it, but she and my uncle are downsizing because they are moving to Florida to be near their sons. She sent an email to her siblings to see if they wanted it, which caused my Dad to forward the email to me because he thought I would appreciate it. He was absolutely right! It looks great on the ottoman in our living room, and I am very happy to have another family item. Thank you Aunt Mona!
Pinewood Derby Districts
The District Pinewood Derby was today at Grace Bible Church. John placed in the top three for his Bear Den at the Pack 2 Pinewood Derby, qualifying his car to race at districts. Out of 22 cars for the Bears, John’s car got faster with every run and he placed ninth overall. He was disappointed to not place in the top three, but he was still proud about how well his car ran. Great job, John!
Busy Kid Day
Kid #1 has been dropped off and is headed to The Magic House in St. Louis for a Girl Scout sleepover. She loved it last year and is looking forward to lots of fun with her friends tonight!
Kid #2 had his “first” baseball game of the season (Monday’s game was rained out). Despite two strikeouts, he played well overall. He has really matured and is focused while in the field at all times.
Apparently, Kid #2 had a long day though. Between a field trip to see a play at Columbia College, his first baseball game, and a trip to Andy’s Frozen Custard, he is tired. Ten minutes of watching last year’s Tour de France put him right to sleep… Good night, my sweet boy!
