My kids sure can fake loving each other! Less than 30 seconds before I took this picture, Laura was yelling at John for trying to give her a kiss. She is only smiling because I told her this was the picture of the day for the blog. On the other hand, John was cracking up because she was so annoyed at him…
2018!
Happy New Year! I cannot believe that 2018 is here already. The past year went so quickly! This post is #2,546 and begins Year Eight of this blog. YEAR. EIGHT. That is completely amazing. I sometimes wonder what would happen if I just stopped, but then I cannot imagine stopping. So, here is to the coming year and all that will be recorded here. Cheers to 2018!
New Year’s Eve
It was a quiet New Year’s Eve at the Kassel Castle. We enjoyed some Chicago-style Deep-dish Pizza for dinner and Haley, our neighbor, came over to play.
The kids rang in the New Year about 10:30 pm and then we watched some television. It was low key and relaxing. No, I did not make it to midnight, but that is okay! Happy New Year!
Finished!
Painting
The time has finally come to begin painting the rooms in our house that have no color. First on the list is Andy’s office. He chose the color “Raven Wing,” which is a dark gray.
Just a small portion with the new color is a dramatic difference!
Tomorrow, we will take the tape off and put the furniture back in place. I am looking forward to getting all the pictures and decorations out of boxes and into the office after the paint fully cures. It will finally be Andy’s office again!
Christmas with Jeremy
Jeremy came over tonight to exchange Christmas presents. Jeremy gave Andy and I a gift certificate to Flat Branch Pub and Brewery, which we will be using tomorrow night! Laura got two big drawing pads for her easel and John got three Xbox games. We got Jeremy a Nostalgia Homecraft On-tap Beer Growler Cooler System. To say that Jeremy was excited would be an understatement. He left shortly after opening it to go buy a mini-keg of Heineken beer. We got pictures shortly after of him enjoying his first pour of beer. Merry Christmas Jeremy!
Cats and Chickens
We are taking care of pets for some friends while they are out of town for the holiday. They have two cats, Josefina and Topanga, and four chickens. The main bonus for me is that we get to keep the fresh eggs and the chickens have laid 17 eggs so far! Laura and John just love their cats and look forward to going over there to give them love each day.
