These two are pals.
Height
Every three months, Andy measures the kids’ heights. He even remembered to transfer the marks from their bedroom door in our old house. I could not believe it tonight when he said to John, “The next measurement is when you are 10.” I am not sure how that happened. My baby will be 10 in just three, short months.
My Red is only six years from college. Time moves too fast. Just too fast.
Happy Easter!
He is risen! He is risen indeed! Happy Easter everyone! We began our day at Easter Sunrise Service. It was really cold with the threat of snow, so the service was held indoors, but the service was very uplifting anyway. As is tradition, we went to Bob Evans for breakfast.
While at breakfast, Uncle Jeremy texted to say that he saw the Easter Bunny leave our house! We wrapped up breakfast pretty quickly and headed home because the kids wanted to see their Easter baskets. John was excited to see pool toys and a Monster Jam truck in his basket…
…while Laura was excited to see Art Splash and gel pens in hers.
Then, it was off to hunt for eggs! I must say that the Easter Bunny sure LOVES putting our real orange eggs mixed in with orange things. We had to look pretty hard for these…
The Easter Bunny also hid figurines and superchargers for Skylanders around the house!
Because we didn’t go to Shelter Gardens for Easter pictures as we have done in years past, I took a few of the kids in our backyard. It took about 20 takes to get one good one. I think they had had enough of pictures for the day…
We spent the afternoon relaxing and then had Uncle Jeremy over for Easter dinner. It was a great way to spend Easter Sunday.
Easter Eggs!
We dyed Easter Eggs today. We had 24 eggs and nine different colors.
The kids took turns putting the eggs in their favorite colors.
The finished eggs look great and Laura requested that they be placed in the egg cartons in “rainbow order.”
I suspect that there will not be many more years of egg-decorating fun for our family. I will miss these days.
Success!
I got my picture today (though I was not the one to take it). Darren left at 4:45 am to meet some of the cycling team for a ride. Andy and I left a bit later (think 5:40 am) to meet up with the team at Harold’s Doughnuts. It was a great way to spend a Friday morning even if it was a cold ride and early. Darren heads home today, but it was really great to see him!
Fail
I forgot to take a picture today even though our friend, Darren Bickerton, from Big Tree Cycling was here for the night. We had a great evening with a great friend and great food. It was a failure on my part. Maybe I can get a picture tomorrow as we are heading out for an early, early bike ride.
