Laura went to Science Camp today. She was supposed to be there for the night and come home tomorrow. Despite being very excited this morning, she was so worried about not liking camp that she did not sleep well last night and had a bad day. I picked her up at 4 pm and brought her home. She was disappointed in herself, but she was doing much better after talks with Dad and me. Hopefully, she will remember this experience and try not to get so worked up next time.

BikeMS
Andy is riding 100 miles today for BikeMS in Kansas.
He was planning to ride this particular ride anyway, but this ride was substituted as his regular ride when the St. Louis ride was cancelled due to weather. He texted me at 2:26 pm to say that he had completed 100 miles.
He will spend the rest of today relaxing with great friends. Tomorrow, he rides 60 miles!

Conference
My office had the first Network for Educator Effectiveness (NEE) User Conference and I did a presentation on the NEE Data Tool. I had hoped to have ten people in the room and I was stunned to have 50! Because I have spent the last 3 1/2 years working in this online application and database, my goal for today was simply to answer every question they had. I started out by saying that I could use my agenda, but my preference was to just throw it away and start answering questions. I was encouraged to see three hands go up at once. It was a great hour that went by way too fast! I got to share stories, give tips, and watch the light bulbs go off. I also got to meet a lot of those people that I have been talking to and emailing with for years. Today, reminded me of why I do this job.
