Going Through Life One Blog Post at a Time

Years ago, Andy showed me the beginnings of how to make homemade Marinara Sauce and my love of cooking began. He had no idea the door he was opening that night, but I am so thankful that he did. Over the years, I have made some amazing things, some good things, and some “WTF? NEVER AGAIN” things. Through all those successes, okays, and failures, I discovered that the kitchen is my solace. Tonight, I began passing the Marinara Sauce recipe down to Laura. It is a process. I measure nothing unless you count the two cans each of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. I had flashbacks of me learning how to make homemade pie crust and apple pie from my mom. All I can hope is that someday, Laura will remember tonight and maybe find a tiny bit of solace in the kitchen. My kitchen is home. It is my space. It is always good to be home.

I am looking forward to wearing these this weekend! Go Stars!

One of my favorite baseball moms in the world made me this awesome shirt to wear to John’s games! I could not love this shirt anymore!

I spent the morning hanging out at Hatton-McCredie Elementary School while Andy rode in the Show-Me State Games road cycling races.

After a disappointing DNF in the 19-mile race thanks to a flat tire, he came back in the 28-mile race to finish sixth overall and second in his age group. He finished with the lead group and it was fun to watch him cross the finish line.

Congratulations, Andy! I am so proud of you!

And, just like that, this handsome guy is 13. He may look like a slightly shorter version of his Dad, but he is really an interesting mix of both of us. Welcome to the teenage years, John! Stay sweet, enjoy life, and make sure you always have a kiss for me. We love you to the stars and back. Happy Birthday!
