I believe we have a stand off…

Until next year, Copper Mountain…

It is our last day in Colorado, so we took advantage of some of the things Copper Mountain has to offer. Andy and I went for a morning walk.

We took a scenic lift ride up Copper Mountain to enjoy the views.

John did the Wreck Tangle.

The kids watched television in our condo while Andy and I enjoyed some wine.

We went out to dinner…

…where John discovered that he likes Calamari.

It was a great last day! Now, it is time to pack up as much as we can…

And, they are off to ride into Frisco!

I am driving to Frisco to join them for a ride to Dillon Reservoir. Technically, I am sag support, so the kids do not have to climb back up to Copper Mountain after our ride. Both kids said that going down into Frisco was a lot of fun though!

The Reservoir is really beautiful and the weather was absolutely perfect for a ride! We rode about 12 miles in total and just enjoyed the time.

I have been taking this same picture of the kids since we started bringing them to Copper Mountain. They used to think it was much more funny, but they do still tolerate me taking this picture…

Andy is still recovering from a bulging disc in his back, so he did not ride the Copper Triangle ride this year. However, he did not let that stop him from taking a bicycle ride or watching Jeff cross the finish line.

We spent the rest of the day with Jeff and his girlfriend, Krista, hanging around Copper Mountain. It was so great to get to see our friend again and catch up!

While researching Leadville, I stumbled across the National Mining Hall of Fame Museum. As it turns out, there is a “Mining in Society” merit badge for Scouts and you get free admission if you are working on the badge. We took that opportunity to go see something unique and the kids completed nearly all of the merit badge.

I found the exhibit on the Colorado Gold Rush very interesting. It was definitely my favorite part.

One of the best things I saw during the visit was the kids trying to balance this scale. They worked at it together for ten minutes until the arms were equal, and they were very excited to get it right.

The museum was very well done and I am glad we went. Afterwards, we drove out to see some of the remains of Camp Hale, a US Army training facility for the 10th Mountain Division during World War II. Not much is left, but it is still a unique piece of history.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing at the condo. It was a great day with the family in beautiful Colorado!
