Enjoying the Fire

Going Through Life One Blog Post at a Time

It was Spring Band Concert night.

Both kids were performing at Hickman High School this evening. The West Middle School Eighth Grade Band was up first.

They played two songs and sounded really great. Both Andy and I agreed that they were better than the Hickman High School Concert Band.

Laura plays in the Symphonic Band. They also played two songs.

For this concert, Laura was first chair again. The Symphonic Band did a great job and sounded so good.

I am really looking forward to what both of these kids can do in the future. Despite losing nearly a year of band with COVID, they both have come really far!
It was time to shorten up my hair.

I got bored, so I tried a new recipe – Cream Cheese Pound Cake.

Now, I just need to wait for the family to try it, since I really have no desire to try it myself.

According to the other three members of the Kassel Family, this recipe is a keeper! I see more pound cake in my future. Maybe, I need to do “Sweet Bread April,” and start stocking the freezer with lots of different sweet breads and pound cakes…
Laura planned meals for this weekend’s Scout campout and helped to prepare one of Andy’s chili recipes.

Laura looks so thrilled in this picture, but she told me that she really did enjoy cooking.

When John’s patrol asks me to make Chocolate Chip Muffins for this weekend’s campout, I get up at 5:00 am and make muffins.

It was St. Patrick’s Day on the Flat Branch patio.

Andy and Laura had Corned Beef and Cabbage, and Andy and I drank good beer. We enjoyed the beautiful weather, and we checked off another Kassel Family tradition. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
