Our Scouts had their Fall Court of Honor tonight.

As Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 523, Laura was one of the presenters for the evening, along with being recognized for two rank advancements, earning three merit badges, and receiving beads for 27 service hours.

John was recognized for one rank advancement, and he earned seven merit badges and received beads for 26 service hours.

Laura is now a First Class Scout, and I have two more pins on her side of my Scout ribbon.

John is now a Star Scout, and I have one more pin on his side of my Scout ribbon.

Congratulations to Laura and John! I am so proud of both of you!
I guess a normal-sized spoon was not big enough…

It was up at 4:00 am to get the kids out the door for the first marching band competition of the year.

The competition was at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, MO. Andy and I arrived about 11:15 am and found a place in the stands to watch the preliminary performance. You could tell that all the kids were nervous, but Hickman still placed second in their division and made the finals. Their finals performance was the best run of the show that I have seen to date, and I really thought that they might place first or second overall.

However, it was not to be, and they placed third. It was still a fun day filled with great performances, and John did really well in his first marching competition. Congratulations to our two and the rest of the Hickman High Marching Band!

Andy went with JT to see Molly Healey at the Boone County Historical Society as part of their Storytellers series while the kids and I stayed home and went to bed early. The first marching band competition is tomorrow!

It was another milestone for John tonight. He officially learned how to shave his mustache! In the end, Andy took a picture of the Barbasol can since John would not let him take a picture while he was shaving…

Tonight, I joined Andy and some of Big Tree Cycling at Shakespeare’s for pizza and drinks. It was great to see everyone and, hopefully, I can get back to riding the Green & Black Ride next year.
