Criterium at the Columns

We spent the day watching the Criterium at the Columns cycling races.

Andy and Laura served as corner marshals for most of the day.

I spent the day hanging out with good bike friends at the Hawaiian shirt cheering station. We had great food, good drinks, and cheered on the riders.

I think that Andy won the day though. He got to ride in the pace car for one of the races!

It was a fun day, and I am already looking forward to next year!

Sister Act

Andy is not a fan of musicals, but he took one for the Kassel team tonight! We went with the Fues Family to see “Sister Act” at Columbia Entertainment Company. Two of the four Kassels thought the musical was great. I will call that a win.

Decision

John made what was probably the biggest decision of a teenager’s life this past weekend. He has appeared in a Mid-MO Stars uniform for the last time, and he has the full support of Andy and me. The environment over the last 18 months had deteriorated, and John decided that he needed to remove himself from it. While we have always said to our kids that if you start something, you must finish it, there is also a lesson in letting go when it is time and better for your mental state. He had a great, five-year run, and he learned a lot. However, winning is not everything, and I am so proud of this kid for doing what he needed to do for himself.

Baseball

It was another night at the Hickman Baseball field.

John did not get to play that much as it was mostly Varsity games, but he still had a great, running catch in the outfield and did his job to advance a runner on a sacrifice fly.
