…that there is no point to buying the kids toys…
Amazing Wedding Cakes
Because Laura’s school had early dismissal today due to the heat, I spent the afternoon hanging out with my girl. It was too hot to be outside so we watched some television. While flipping through the channels, I came across Amazing Wedding Cakes on WE. I stopped to see which episode it was and before I knew it, we had watched two episodes. Laura must be like me, because she was just as fascinated by the cakes as I am. Good times!
School Bus!
I got the school bus situation worked out yesterday and a bus stop was added at the end of our street. I told Laura last night that she would be able to ride the school bus today and she was so excited! **Insert jumping up and down, screaming with happiness, five-year old sounds here.** I almost missed her getting on the bus, because I had to take John to daycare earlier than I intended. He was very upset that he was couldn’t ride the bus with Laura. It was off to daycare early in an effort to calm him down, or rather make him forget. I told Andy to make sure that he took pictures just in case I didn’t make it back to the house in time. Here they are! Laura walking to the bus stop.
Laura getting on the school bus. Note the two shadows on the ground. That’s Andy and I pretending not to be choked up.
I should say that given Laura’s general need to have things never change, she has handled going to Kindergarten so incredibly well. The transition has been surprisingly easy and we are so proud of her!
Sister and Brother
Roly Poly!
Both kids have always really liked to look at pillbugs, or Roly Poly bugs as they call them. They get so excited when they see them and yell, “Roly Poly! Roly Poly!” They have to bend down and examine the little bug as it crawls away from them. Whenever I see one of them looking at a pillbug, I think back to when Laura was little and couldn’t pronounce “r”. She would say, “Poly Poly, Poly Poly!” For now, I’ll just enjoy their excitement because it won’t be like this for long.
Grand Plans…
So, I had grand plans for the day. Get some cleaning done, go grocery shopping, do more cleaning, do some laundry, etc. Of all of that list, the only thing that materialized was grocery shopping. I ended up spending most of the day playing with the kids and reading a book by Joanne Fluke. Jeremy came over about 5 pm to hang out and I didn’t even cook dinnner. Just ordered pizza from Italian Village. Turns out that having a relaxing day was much better than accomplishing the grand plans. I need those sometimes.
