Going Through Life One Blog Post at a Time
“You’re Gonna Miss This” by Trace Adkins came on the radio today while I was driving to pick up John. Laura was sound asleep in the backseat and I was thinking about the wedding this past weekend and how it seemed like just yesterday that Andy and I got married. In reality, it’s been nearly 15 years since we got married. Flash forward in my mind and this picture appeared. This was taken when John was right about 2 weeks old. It was on this day that Laura decided maybe a baby brother wasn’t so bad after all.
I realized that tears were slipping down my cheeks because I *DO* miss those times. I miss the times before kids, the baby times, and all those times in between. Each new day is an adventure, but you really do miss the past. Times when you think, “It really can’t get any better than this.” Yet, somehow it does. I’m sure 20 years from now when I hear that song on the Internet, I’ll find those tears again.
“You’re gonna miss this. You’re gonna want this back. You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast. These are some good times, so take a good look around. You may not know it now….but you’re gonna miss this.”
A couple of weeks ago, Laura was ready for school a bit early. She had 30 minutes before the bus arrived and Andy had already left with John. I turned on the television and found an episode of “The Fresh Beat Band” that was just starting. I figured that she could watch that and then we would go to the bus stop. It turns out that it has become part of her morning now. She knows that “Fresh Beats” start at 7:30 so she must be ready before then to watch them. It’s amazing how much faster she moves now!
We left Dave and Kristena’s about noon after breakfast at IHOP. It was a long trip home. The kids were tired and both Andy and I have a cold. We got home right about 7:30 pm and it was good to be home. Kids to bed and Andy and I to bed.
Today, Andy’s younger brother got married. As Laura says, “I got a new Aunt!” The wedding and reception were held at Horticultural Hall in Lake Geneva, WI. It was a beautiful place! The wedding was held in the outdoor courtyard. The weather was perfect and Scot and Sheila were so sweet. The reception was just a fun time. Laura got to dance with Daddy while I held John through a lot of it as he fell asleep about 8:30 or so. It was truly great to see everyone in the family! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Dinsmor! May you have many, many years of happiness together!
