…when you mix a sick husband with a super comfortable sectional sofa and a crabby Newman?
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!
The kids made homemade Chia Pets at daycare using nylons, dirt, and grass seed. They have begun to grow and the kids think they are so neat! Laura had a day off school on the day they had planned to make the Chia pets so she got to make one too. When picking John up at night, she always wants to go into daycare and see how much her catterpillar has grown!
John’s Chia pet is a bug without a hat. He wanted to be different from the girls. John will be “documenting” (as much as a three-year old can) the changes in his Chia pet over the next 4-6 weeks.
Eventually, the kids will get to bring them home. Laura said, “We can plant them in the yard since they are just grass, Mommy!” I really think this is one of the neatest things that Cheryl has ever done with the kids at daycare. We’ll keep you posted on the progress of the caterpillar and bug!
Valentine’s Day
After a very rough work day, the late afternoon and evening of Valentine’s Day was much better. I volunteered at Laura’s school for her Valentine’s Day Party. She was so excited to see me and I’m very glad I went!
Laura and I picked up Andy and he emerged from his building carrying my Valentine’s Day present – Chocolate Covered Strawberries from The Candy Factory. (I added the wine after getting home!)
The three of us then headed out to pick up John from daycare. John got in the car with the Valentine’s Day gift that he made for Andy and I.
Once we got home, Laura went through her Valentine’s Day cards from her classmates.
Then, it was a typical evening for the Kassel household – dinner, bath and bed for the kiddos, and relaxing for Andy and me. It turned out to be a very nice day after a rough beginning. Nice and relaxing… Just the way we like it!
Snow Day!
The Thief
The Valentine’s “Love Rocket”
The kids and I did a Valentine’s Day craft today. We constructed a foam “Love Rocket” complete with robots and a dog. The kids really enjoy making these types of things, but Mommy didn’t enjoy this one so much. It took nearly 1 1/2 hours and the picture “directions” left a lot to the imagination. Either way, it worked out in the end! Without further ado, I give you the Valentine’s Love Rocket (and two really proud kids)!
Two Things
Number 1 – My Project 365-My Way (2011) photo book from Shutterfly arrived today. I can’t even describe it. It’s just amazing! A year in the making and it’s all right there in one 12 X 12 photo book. Hours upon hours of hard work into a photo book that is just beautiful. Every hour and dime spent was well worth it. I wish I could take a picture of every page to show everyone, but a picture from the November pages will have to do. If any of you are coming over to my house, just ask and I’ll get the book out.
Number 2 – Kathryn is here for a sleepover and the kids are having a blast! I’m going to have very tired kids tomorrow!
