Need five minutes of blissful quiet upon arriving home with two hyper kids? The popsicle method is foolproof. Tonight, it even earned me a full seven minutes of blissful quiet.
It’s not classy,…
Chicken Nugget Day
Last week, Laura asked me to join her for lunch at school for “Chicken Nugget Day.” I told her that I would and she was very excited. I got to school a few minutes before lunch and met her in her classroom. All the kids lined up, me included, and off we went to the gym where they serve lunch. Laura told me that I had to have chocolate milk, chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes and gravy, a “little bit” of salad, and three carrots. After Laura paid for both of our lunches, we sat down to eat. She told me all about her day and asked me how my day was. She made sure to introduce me to all the adults and she made sure that I liked everything. After cleaning our plates, she gave me a goodbye hug and kiss and then she headed to the playground and I returned to work. It was a fun experience and I’ll definitely have to go again some time!
Mommy-Daughter Haircuts
Laura and I had “Mommy-Daughter Haircut Afternoon” with my stylist, Shannon, from Green Meadows Hair Company. I usually just get Laura’s hair cut at Great Clips, but, while the haircuts are cheap, they are suspect at best. I knew that Shannon would do a great job and she did not disappoint. Shannon cut off about two inches of Laura’s hair as it desperately needed it. Then, she added some textured longer layers. It looks great and Laura was very happy. She even said that she wants to have Miss Shannon cut her hair from now on. Oh, I got my hair cut too… It’s now 2 1/2 inches shorter and the layers and long bangs are trimmed up. 🙂 Love Shannon!
Brent
Brent came over to hang out with us today while Todd and Jenna travelled to Southern Missouri to pick up a new puppy. It was surprisingly relaxing for me as the three kids entertained each other. I got to actually do some reading in between cleaning up the house and doing laundry. Both Laura and John had a great time and I was just glad to be able to enjoy a nice, quiet Sunday. Also, I *had* to use this picture as Brent was none to happy about having his picture taken…..let that be a lesson learned to everyone: you come to my house, you stand a chance of being part of Project Life 365! 🙂
Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Kathryn Gilbert
Today, we had the honor of attending the wedding of some of our neighbors, Jesse and Kathryn Gilbert. It was a great time celebrating the marriage of this fun-loving couple! The wedding and reception were held at the beautiful location of Alpine Park and Gardens and the infamous Missouri weather actually cooperated.
Besides being an excuse for the Kassel Family to dress up (we finally got John in a TIE!), it was great to watch these neighbors that we hang out with begin their life together. Laura and John play with Katie’s daughter, Madelyn, quite a lot. We’ve shared many a drink in our yards while we talked about kids and life. They are just a fun couple and we loved being there! So, congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Katie Gilbert! May you have a lifetime of happiness!
