I had two great helpers while I was picking the tomatoes and peppers this evening. They were so proud of themselves! I was surprised at just how good they are at picking tomatoes. I’ll have to deposit that tidbit of information into the “Mom Bank” to use at a later time!
Busy Day
Not many days go by anymore where I don’t take a picture, but today was one of those days. It was just busy all around and I never even took my camera out of my purse. I felt like I was running, running, and running some more just to stay somewhat caught up. The day started at 5:30 am and I finally gave up at 10 pm. My day went something like this… Get up, get myself ready, get lunches ready, wake husband up, wake kids up, get kids out of bed, get John ready (Andy gets Laura ready), drop John at daycare, work from 7:30 am to 4 pm, pick up John from daycare, drive home, workout (P90X2 Plyocide – you suck, but what a good workout!), Andy showers and leaves for a meeting, make kids dinner, take a shower, get kids in bath tub, pay bills, get kids out of bathtub, get kids ready for bed, pay the rest of the bills, get kids in bed, clean up kitchen from kids’ dinner, make dinner for Andy and I, clean all dishes that I can while cooking, Andy returns from meeting, eat dinner (at 9 pm no less), watch an episode of “Homeland”, drink a glass of wine, and go to bed completely wiped out. You probably understand why my camera never left my purse today…
Self-Esteem…
I was flipping through old pictures tonight and came across the original to this one. The following conversation took place…
- Laura: “Mommy, is that you and Daddy?”
- Me: “Yes, that was us in college at my sorority formal.”
- Laura: “I’m glad you married Daddy.”
- Me: “Me too, Laura.”
- Laura: “If you didn’t get married, then I wouldn’t have been born and I’m just too cute to not be born.”
Nothing like a healthy self-esteem…
It’s “Done!”
The flooring project is done! Actually, it is mostly done as Andy still has to put down the shoe moulding, but that is an easy job that Andy can do in just a couple of hours. Andy and I love the floor and it looks great! The kids love it because Laura can spin to her heart’s content and John is having a blast running his cars on it. 🙂 Success!
Flooring Project
The flooring project in our downstairs is nearing completion as Andy is putting the transition strips down! I’m so excited because the flooring looks fantastic and Andy has done a great job! Love, love, love it! I picked up new flooring samples for the master bathroom while on a Home Depot run today… Poor Andy… He doesn’t know what he’s gotten himself into now! Maybe next time, he’ll do crappy work so he doesn’t have to do these types of things again!
Stacking Cups!
Millville vs. Hy-Vee
I’ve been buying the Millville brand of Honey Nut Cheerios from Aldi for over a year now. They are cheaper and the kids like them. About two weeks ago, I was at Hy-Vee and remembered that we were running out of Honey Nut Cheerios, so I picked up their store brand that the kids used to eat all the time. When I gave Laura a bowl of them the next day, she took one bite and said, “I don’t like these Mommy. They aren’t the right kind.” She promptly refused to eat them. A couple of days later, I tried giving them to her again. I received the same basic response. Last week, Laura took a different tactic and mentioned to Daddy that she didn’t like them and could he please have Mommy buy the “right” kind from Aldi. I gave up. I drove to Aldi and bought a box of the stupid things. I came home and threw away the Hy-Vee brand. Laura is now happy and will eat her Honey Nut Cheerios. Lesson for me…never substitute cereal AGAIN!
