Let no one ever say that we didn’t train them when they were young. Our future chefs are practicing their knife skills.
Let 2013 Begin!
Happy First Day of 2013! I can’t believe I’m starting Year Three of this blog. It seems like yesterday that I started it all. Without it, there would be many, many memories otherwise forgotten. I’m extremely grateful to Colleen Teodosio for giving Jill Blume the push to start BlumeNation Picture of the Day, because Jill gave me the push (even though she didn’t know it at the time.) This project is quite a gift. If you are thinking about starting, I recommend that you do. It will seem like a chore at first, but you will be rocking it before you know it. And at the end of that year, you will be amazed at all the memories you captured. You will even appreciate the crappy ones because it’s all apart of this great little thing that we call life. And now on to Day 1 of 2013!
We started the new year off by having a lazy, lazy day! I wore my super comfy Snowman pajamas all day. Hey, if the kids get to have pajama days, then I do too! Our main focus for today was in the kids’ room. They have had the bunk beds for a year and so, today, they switched bunks for the next year. Both were excited for the switch and enjoyed helping us get them ready.
I must admit that the bedroom looks darker with John’s bedding on the top, but he was so excited to be able to “finally, finally sleep on top!”
On a side note, Andy’s main focus for today was football, football, and more football. I think we watched at least three College Bowl games. Good times… Good times…
New Year’s Eve!
We woke up on the last day of 2012 to SNOW! It was really beautiful to watch. We didn’t get to enjoy it quite as much as we would have liked because we had some errands to run. We *had* to get to Goodwill to do that final donation today in order to count it on our taxes for 2012!
We spent the afternoon getting ready for our annual New Year’s Eve get together. Friends came to help us ring in the New Year and we even had one person join us via webcam since she couldn’t get here because of the roads. We talked and laughed the evening away, ate great snacks, and had some good drinks. It was a great way to ring in 2013! Thanks to everyone who came to join us!

Writing!
While at dinner at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, I asked John to write his name. I wanted to see if he would write his name for me, because I know that he can even though I have never seen him do it. He grabbed a crayon and went right to work. I watched John write his name and it was even written in the “school way,” meaning the first letter is capitalized followed by lowercase letters. I was very impressed! He is doing so well and learning so much at his new preschool!
A couple of minutes later, Laura says, “Mommy and Daddy, look at this!” Not to be outdone by her little brother, she had written her name in *cursive.* I think I can safely say that Andy and I are very proud parents tonight!
