John checked out his first book, Dinosaurumpus!”, from the Ridgeway Elementary Media Center today. He was so excited to bring the book home and show us. Also, he showed us how to hold the book when carrying it. He said, “You give the book a hug!” John’s Media Center day is every Tuesday, so he will return the books next Tuesday and come home with new one(s).

Allowance!
The kids earned their first weekly allowances this week. Andy set a list of chores with Laura’s list having five tasks and John’s list having four tasks. Each has three daily tasks, while Laura has two weekly tasks and John has one weekly task. If they complete everything, Laura will earn $5 per week and John will earn $2 per week. They were both quite excited to see the new chore lists on the refrigerator for the month of September and also to earn their first weekly allowance. Great job kiddos!

School Bus!
It was another first for John today as he and Laura, along with Mady (our neighbor), rode the school bus. John seemed genuinely excited today and there was no meltdown!
The school bus arrived pretty much right on time, which is unusual for the beginning of a school year. Laura, the big Second Grader, led John and Mady, the little Kindergartners, safely onto the bus. As the bus pulled away, Andy, Katie (Mady’s Mom), and I were amused to note that all three kids were sitting together in one seat.
Despite a bus issue this afternoon, the kids arrived home safely and John said he had fun on the bus. Another successful day!
