The Kassel Family Project Life 365

It was Jack-O-Lantern and Chili Prep Night in the Kassel Household!  First, the kids drew the faces that they wanted on paper so that Daddy would have something to copy.  Laura drew a “Minion-y” face and John drew a mean face.

Then, it was time to scoop the pumpkin guts.  I actually had help from a very excited Wee Ginger!  I’ll train that girl to be a great pumpkin-gut scooper.

Third, Daddy uses his artistic skills to transfer the kids’ pumpkin face designs to the actual pumpkins.

Then, Daddy carves, carves, and carves until the pumpkins are satisfactory to all.  You will note that the kids are closely watching Daddy…

For the next-to-last step in the process, the finished Jack-O-Lanterns are placed in their new home on our front porch for all to enjoy.

Lastly, Mommy finishes the evening by prepping all the chili ingredients.  Andy will make the chili tomorrow.  Yes, folks, that is *12 pounds* of meat between the two different types.  YUMMY!  Bring on Halloween!

It was a busy Sunday of activities!  It started with Sunday School for the kids while I cleaned the house.  Then, I took Laura to her Brownie meeting.  It was their Halloween celebration so she got to wear her Minion costume.  I just had to take her picture before the meeting because she looks so stinking cute in her costume.  When I asked her to give me some attitude, this is what I got…

Stinking cute, right?!?  While Laura and I were at her Brownie meeting, Andy took John to The Magic City Line Mini-Train in Moberly.  John was so excited to get to ride the train three times.  He was also very excited to get to play in “Candy Cane Land,” a playground at the same park.  His favorite part of the playground was the two-story, candy-cane colored slide.

We ended the day with dinner at home with Jeremy and two tired kids.  Unfortunately, John also finished the day with a fever.  Hopefully, it will not last long…

…when you only *really* play three quarters in a football game.  Andy and I went to the Mizzou versus South Carolina game and all was well for three quarters.  Unfortunately, there is a FOURTH quarter in football.  Mizzou allowed 17 unanswered points leading to overtime and, ultimately, their first loss of the season.  I have never been to Faurot Field when it was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop, but this was definitely it.  That field goal to tie the score in the second overtime was painful to hear hit the goal post…  And we heard it *very* clearly.  Disappointment and shock – simply no other way to describe it.

I stopped at Sam’s Club after work to discover the Wienermobile in the parking lot!  I realize I am 40 years old, but I still smile anytime I see one of these.  I took a picture, texted it to Andy, and posted it to Facebook.  Seeing a Wienermobile just never gets old.

Laura and John played photographer this evening with this being my favorite of the bunch.  Obviously, Laura took this one since she’s not in it.

John took this one while I was hiding behind Laura’s head.  John has not figured out to wait until people are set to snap the picture.  Although it doesn’t really help when Laura won’t sit still because *both* Daddy and Uncle Jeremy are tickling her…

It was fun with a camera for a few minutes tonight.  🙂

Andy wandered downstairs today to discover Laura and Claire, a kiddo friend from up the street, were having some “fort fun.”  Good times!
