…is SNOW!

The snow started about 6 am and just kept coming.  Predictions are for 5 to 8 inches and the snow is supposed to continue well into the night.  I am definitely enjoying the snow as it really is a beautiful thing to see.  Of course, I don’t mind mostly because we don’t have to be anywhere today and we are comfy and warm in our house.  I did venture outside to take several pictures and Andy shoveled the driveway twice, but that was the extent of our time spent outside.

During one of the pockets of lighter snowfall, the kids and I decided to try to make snow ice cream.  It was so easy and it was tasty too!  I think this will be a new tradition for the Kassel Family on snow-filled days.

The kids requested more snow ice cream and I told them perhaps tomorrow morning since it will be another snow day for all for us.

Today ended up being an inclement weather day for the kids even though there really wasn’t any snow on the ground.  All the ice that had melted during the day on Sunday froze again when the temperatures dropped overnight, making some roads, sidewalks, and parking lots treacherous.  I ended up staying home with the kids and we ventured out to Aldi and Hy-Vee about 9:30 to do our main grocery shopping for February.  It appears that everyone was anticipating the impending snow tomorrow because both stores were packed!  I am glad that I went when I did though because other people were reporting that it was difficult to find parking spots at the local grocery stores this evening.  I also picked up a few extra things for breakfast and lunches because I was anticipating the possibility of more snow days.  Good thing I did too, because…

SNOW DAY TOMORROW FOR ALL OF US!  I am so happy that I will not have to burn another vacation day to stay home with the kids!  Bring on the snow!  (Now, watch…  It won’t snow at all or we will get a dusting…  Such is life in Columbia.)

It was an evening of Super Bowl Party fun despite the horrid game and lukewarm commercials.  We hosted a houseful of people for an evening of food, fun, and drinks.  We had quite the great food spread with four crock pots going all at once.  The kids played the evening away while the adults “watched” the game, ate great food, drank some tasty drinks, and chatted away.  What a great time!  We really have some awesome friends!

No Kids’ Workshop at Home Depot for us today.  John was quite disappointed that he didn’t get to build the NASCAR race car.
