These are my new wine tumblers from a friend that I have known since I was 7. She is doing a Pay It Forward activity by surprising five of her Facebook friends with little gifts. I love these and found it funny because I was checking out similar glasses at Bed, Bath, and Beyond just a couple of weeks ago. Susan Jamison must have been reading my mind! Thanks Susan! I had a big smile on my face when I opened them up. Now, it’s my turn to pay it forward to five other people. I will get on that just as soon as I use these new tumblers!
Confirmed X 2
Yep, it is confirmed times two. Both Laura and John have Strep. Last night, John started acting off. I was crossing my fingers that he wasn’t sick too, but as luck would have it… I have two Strep-infected kids. Today included a visit to the doctor, ibuprofen, lots of television, and a movie. John’s throat hurt so badly that he would *NOT* eat ice cream. Let me repeat that. He would *NOT* eat ice cream. It was not really the way that I would have preferred to spend St. Patrick’s Day.
Sick Kiddo…
Yesterday evening, Laura commented that her throat hurt. Andy took a look at her throat and said it was swollen, but it didn’t look like it was too bad. I gave her some ibuprofen and put her to bed. This morning proved to be a different story. She woke up with the “strep throat voice.” Ugh. So, instead of going to church so that Laura could do her Faith Stepping Stone at the 8:30 service, we ended up staying home. Laura stayed in her pajamas all day and spent most of the day either tucked in her bed reading or on the couch watching television. It is a visit to the doctor tomorrow…
FunDay!
It’s that time of year again! Ridgeway Elementary FunDay was today. As with the last two years, Kathryn joined us for the festivities.
This year was different though because Laura and Kathryn fall into the “Unit B” category (as Laura called it) and they got to run around the school by themselves. I set a time to meet up with them and they would appear right on time. Each time their bags would be slightly more full with their prize winnings. John really only wanted to go through the Enviromaze and play Basketball. I did manage to talk him into Washers once, but he was not particularly thrilled with it.
The girls decided that Animal Ring Toss was their favorite game and I’m pretty sure they spent the vast majority of their tickets on it. How do I know, you ask? Well… They showed up at 11:30 with bags stuffed *FULL* of stuffed animals along with the ones they were carrying.
I discovered this year that 125 tickets split between three kids is not enough. Between Andrea and I, we ended up buying another 30 tickets or so. Lesson learned for next year! As for the rest of FunDay, we didn’t win any of the Big Drawing packages, but I did win a tour for ten through Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, MO, at the Silent Auction. Another great FunDay! All three kids said they are already looking forward to next year!
Friday Folders
Every other Friday, the kids bring home the “Friday Folder.” It’s a progress report of how the kids are doing in school over a two-week time frame. We have been getting these since Laura started Kindergarten and I love these Fridays. Now, we get two Friday Folders and it’s always interesting to see/read about how the kids are doing in school.
