It was John’s turn to bring home his eight books for the Columbia Public Schools Summer Reading Program. He was so excited to get to check out books to bring home for the summer. Andy and I were amused to see that he checked out four books that he had checked out previously. Well, at least we know he likes them!

Hike and Wedding
What a busy day! First up was a family hike through Finger Lakes State Park with the Girl Scouts to complete the Browning Hiking Badge. The girls (and all the adults and siblings) did a great job even though it was hot and humid in the woods. Laura has now earned nine Brownie badges, one Junior badge, and several fun patches. She has been a busy Brownie!
For the late afternoon and evening, we celebrated the wedding of some of our neighbors, Bryce and Sami, at Cedar Creek Resort. It was a beautiful setting despite the heat and it was lots of fun. Congratulations to two great people and we wish you many, many years of happiness!
My Birthday!
And there is no picture, but that is fine. I spent the day shopping, having a great lunch, getting my hair colored and cut, and relaxing with my family. It was a great way to spend a birthday.
Summer Reading Program
Laura came home from school with books for the Columbia Public Schools Summer Reading Program. This is such a great program! She was very excited to get to check out eight different books from the Ridgeway Elementary library to read during the summer. Laura has already read one of the books so I suspect that we will be going back to Ridgeway at the end of June to check out eight more books.
John will also have this same opportunity, but Unit A has not selected their books yet. That will probably happen tomorrow.
St. Louis Zoo!
It was field trip day for Laura, Andy, and the Unit B’ers from Ridgeway Elementary! Laura was so excited that she literally sprang out of bed this morning. The group left the school at about 8 am for the St. Louis Zoo. Andy was the “head” of Laura’s group that included Laura and one of her classmates, Christina.
The girls (and Andy too) had a great time exploring the zoo. Laura took her camera and she and Christina enjoyed snapping pictures from all the different animal exhibits. Laura’s favorite part of the day was the Sea Lion Show. As a family, we have never had the opportunity to attend the show and it was great that Laura got to attend with her class. Also, she said her favorite picture was of one of the sea lions from the show.
The group got back to Columbia about 5 pm and Laura was full of stories to share with John and I. Both Laura and Christina declared this the best field trip ever and cannot wait to go again next year.
