I actually accomplished lunch preparation early on this Sunday! Everything is ready to go by 5 pm. I see some relaxation time in my future tonight.
Painting
Laura decided to “kill two birds with one stone” today. She tried out her new painting easel that Grandpa Ken made for her birthday and she painted a picture that she promised Alia. Laura was so excited to use her easel for the first time. She loves that the easel is adjustable and will grow with her. That is, provided she ever actually grows taller…
Laura has a great time painting. She decided to paint an abstract. She even finished with a flourish by splattering paint on the canvas. She did manage to get a lot of paint on herself, but she certainly had fun doing it!
And, now, for the final product. I hope that Alia loves it!
Couch Camp Out
Welcome Back
I discovered this in my office today. I think the second floor of ARC missed me! After a short excursion with an office on the first floor, I have been moved back to my original office. It sure is nice because I love that office!

School Bus
It is the return of normal school days. The kids rode the bus to school and that means that we have to be up at 6:15 and out to the bus stop by 7:00. That was a bit of a struggle today because Laura was crabby and John was tired. We made it, though, even if it was completely fake smiles for a picture at the bus stop…
Unlike last year, I got that picture of them getting on the bus this year. In a few years, this will be from much farther up the street, so I have to enjoy it while I can.
First Day of School!
Today, we officially have a fourth grader and a second grader. It is hard to believe that we no longer have a kid in Unit A. I gave Katie Hanney a hug this morning and told her that we will miss her, but on to bigger things! The kids were excited to return to school. They actually did not argue and packed their backpacks on their own.
Then, they let Mom take pictures of them. Laura is in Fourth Grade and Unit C this year. iPad “fun land” here she comes!
John is in Second Grade and Unit B. His big, exciting news is that he has the “boy teacher,” Mr. Gramke.
I got all the standard first day of school pictures, including the ones with the kids by the Ridgeway Elementary sign. I know the day is coming when I will be lucky if they let me take a picture inside our house on the first day of school. I need to enjoy it while it lasts!
As for the kids, both had a successful first day in their new Units. Laura was excited to get to use her iPad and pick out the hot pink cover for it. John was excited to have new classmates along with some old classmates (otherwise known as Reagan Lyman). They got to ride the bus home and discovered that they have the same driver as last year. It was a great beginning to the new school year!
