Wine vs. Gym
FCJ
I really love the FCJ (Family Communication Journal) that Unit B students do each week. The kids write a letter about their school week to someone in their family. I love (even more) that John includes Laura in his “rotation.” I love (even, even more) that Laura is thoughtful in her responses to John.
And, yes, we have Laura’s two FCJs in her memory box. Eventually, both of John’s FCJs will be in his memory box.
Busy, Busy Saturday
It was a full day of kid activities. We began the day at Calvary Baptist Church for some Upward cheerleading and basketball. Laura’s cheerleading game was at 9 am…
…followed by John’s basketball game at 10 am.
Then, it was on to Fairview United Methodist Church for the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby to see how “Turbo Cop” would perform!
It was a fun afternoon that saw “Turbo Cop” (and John) do very well. The car won first in design for the Wolf Den and then second overall in design for the Cub Scout Pack. The car also took the People’s Choice award for design. (Great job John and Daddy!) John won second place for speed in the Wolf Den, but did not place overall.
We finished the evening with Andy and Laura going to the Girl Scout “Puttin’ on the Ritz” Sweetheart Dance. Daddy took his date out to Red Lobster for dinner and then spent the evening with Laura dancing her little heart out. Laura was sad that the end of the dance came so quickly, but she came home happy with some great memories.
Friday
A relaxing Friday night enjoying a martini while Andy puts the wheels on John’s Pinewood Derby car. It is a moment to breathe before the craziness of the weekend ensues – cheerleading game, basketball game, Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby, Girl Scout Father-Daughter Sweetheart Dance, basketball practice, and a Girl Scout meeting (not to mention all the stuff to do at home).
